We haven’t had much wi-fi here in South Africa so I haven’t had a chance to share what we’re doing here in Pretoria! We are working with an organization called Beam Africa, which is an after-school center for children from 3 to 16 years old to come and get a meal every day, have career training, help with school work, etc. They have based their ministry off of Isaiah 58, which is just an amazing vision. Right now, they are having a lot of issues dealing with the church that helped to fund them after they started their ministry. They are being forced to remove themselves and their ministry from the property that they are currently residing on in Nellmapius, a poor community just outside of Pretoria. They have had to stop most of their ministry activities and because our contacts, Louis and Erika, are not citizens of the community, they are not entitled to any property rights and cannot buy more property in the community. The current political counselor that is in power is also very opposed to Beam Africa and is doing everything in his power to ensure that they cannot continue ministry in Nellmapius. Erika and Louis have been working in the community for almost 8 years and are extremely sad to see their ministry end, but they know that God has a bigger plan for them. They have some other options in the community next to Nellmapius called Mahmalaudi. They aren’t sure exactly what they are going to do next, but whatever it is it will be great. Please keep them in your prayers as they try to figure out their next steps!
