“He
was lost but now he is found. He
was blind but now he can see. He
doesn’t know how. He once was dead
but now he lives. Now his LIFEsong
sings.” The words could not ring
anymore clear for this man as he sits with four boys on mattresses on the floor
watching a movie in Spanish. He is
living his LIFE.
Tony,
a 48-year-old man who for the past four years has lived in Tegucigalpa,
Honduras. He gave his life to
Christ six years ago. Not to long
after becoming a Christian he joined his local church and went on a mission
trip to Honduras. Spending two
weeks in Honduras he knew he would never be the same. He found it quite difficult to live back at home as a
Christian. Two years later found
himself back in Honduras shadowing a pastor he met on his mission trip for a
month. From there it is
history. He now for the past four
years has found his groove in this country that was once foreign to him. For the past year he has invested in
six boys that live in Los Pinos (the poorest community in Tegucigalpa) that
live their lives out of school and on thinner. Their mom lives in the city to collect plastic bottle just
so she can get some kind of food for her boys.
And
this is where Tony’s LIFE began and is now he continues to live it out. I met Tony a little over a week ago and
each day I am in awe of seeing Tony live by the Spirit. He is living his dream out. No matter what the circumstance he
finds himself in, he lives his dream out.
Only
knowing Tony for a few short hours I knew Tony was an open book. He will tell you about six months ago
that his life was falling apart. He lost everything. The
church that was supporting him, stopped supporting him because he was getting
death threats and he wouldn’t pull out, the boys he had been investing in for
the past year were lying to his face about thinner and coming clean, his
marriage was falling apart right in front of his eyes. He would tell you, I was at the end of
my rope.
The
Lord was asking to remove himself. So he spent a month in Antigua, Guatemala just trying to figure out what
happened. He will tell you while
he was there he knew where he had to return. He knew where the Lord has called him. He knew that his LIFE was there. He knew his dream was with those boys
in Los Pinos.
I
just sit back and watch this man of God. Watch him live his dream out. That there have been so many circumstances where he could of given
up. There were so many times that
he was at the end of his rope. But
because the way he lives by the spirit he know only by the Lord’s control can
he continue to exist.
It
gives me hope. I feel like my time
in Spain I was able to see what it looks like to live your dream out on paper
and now I have been able to see what it looks like in a man’s life. So I ask you. Are you living your dream out? Are you living your life out
in every circumstance you find yourself in? I know I am striving toward that.
