“Lord we thank you for this
food. Lord we pray that you will
bless those who provided this for us. Lord we ask for a divine appointment tonight. We pray that you will bless our night. We ask all these things in Jesus name,
Amen.” Not thinking a thing just
saying a simple prayer that occurs often before meals, and some might call it a
habit but others might say it as a very thankful saying before gorging
ourselves with food. Like most
times after praying we don’t think seconds about our words we prayed for and
begin our meal. And that would be
exactly what we did.
About the time we finished our dinner
a man from behind me asks, “What kind of missionaries are you?” And of course my smart-a-lik remark
was, “how did you know we were missionaries?” He proceeds to tell us, you look like missionaries. So the conversation begins. This man soon to find out name is Paul
acts as if he didn’t know Christ. He asks us all these questions about, “what type of Christians we are? Why we were here? Do you know about my people?” He seemed very uneasy about us. He proceeds to ask if we were
Mormons.
The questions begin to rotate in my
head. How do we minister to this
man? How do I share Jesus with him? And the list could go on and on. (This is Paul….pronounced different in Spanish)
After Paul gets a feel about who we
are and why we were here. He
begins to open up. This man began
to glow with the love of Christ, he was so richly knowledgeable of the word,
and he was so hungry for the younger generation to know Christ, to be
captivated by Christ, to be abounded by the love of Christ. It was like some switch flipped.
This night we started our evening
with simple words, Lord we ask for a divine appointment. I ended this evening challenged beyond
words. Paul challenged myself in
how I share with the next generation. He challenged me in how I see blessing. He challenged me to everyday as my birthday. A day to rejoice in whom I am and how I
was created to live. To live my
life as a blessing. That there is
no such thing as a blessing in
disguise, everyday, everything in God’s eyes is
a blessing.
Paul and the group ended our
conversation with this verse; Romans 13:1 “Let brotherly love continue. 2Do not
neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained
angels unawares.” Paul was this
verse for me tonight. I left that
night be more blessed from a conversation that re routed my thinking to more
like Christ. I left that night be blessed
by an angel.
So I leave you with this. When is the last time you entertained
angels?
Thank you so much for your
prayers! Still need of $1,800 for support!
