Finding a way to describe myself…lets see…
Writing about yourself can be very challenging. You want to describe yourself but whatever is portrayed from the writing you want all the glory to go to God. So I state these next few words about myself was only accomplished because of my Savior Jesus Christ.
My name is Abby Barnett and I am 21 years old. I was born and raised in suburb outside Dallas, Texas, called Mesquite. I have loving and supporting parents that desire for me to be in the center of God’s will. I am the middle child of two sisters. Bekah (17) and Ginni (24) who are beautiful inside and out. I also have a brother in law Charlie and couldn’t ask for a better brother. Not only has God blessed me with a wonderful family but also with life-long friends who support me in whatever I am doing.
I have a love for kids. The imagination they are gifted with, the smiles they can bring to your face, and the joy that is brought to my heart when I spend time with them can’t replace any other joy in my life. This is what led me to East Texas Baptist University and to major in Elementary Education. I will be graduating in May.
The Lord has given me a heart to serve others, but at the same time I am terrible at being served. I love to encourage people and send things to people but pray that my heart will be content in getting nothing in return. I am quiet when you first meet me but warm up pretty quickly. Really competitive and running keeps me sane. Very indecisive, love being organized but have learned that life shouldn’t always be that way.
My parents taught me the importance of a Christian walk from an early age. I became a Christian at the age of 7 so I don’t remember a life without Christ. By the eighth grade I started understand what it meant to have a relationship with Christ. I have been seeking Christ ever since. By no means has my path been easy but I praise God for the trials and hardships because it has made me who I am today.
Words cannot describe about how excited and scared I am about going on the World Race in October! God has been challenging me to surrender my lifestyle as I know it in order to show Jesus to the deep, dark and beautiful places of the world; to abandon all that I know in order to fully commit to the Lord and His work. I believe God will use The World Race to rock my world. I look forward to seeing what the Lord has in store.
