Last week was Songkran, the Thai New year, and Easter. As I celebrated both holidays in Bangkok, I was struck by the similarities of the two. Easter is a time when Christians celebrate the death and resection of Jesus. When Jesus died on the cross he cleaned us of our sins. He renewed us. In Thai cultural the New Year, Songkran, is a time for cleaning and renewing yourself with water and prayers at the Buddhist temple.

All over people were throwing water on each other, having fun. Sara and I joined in and got absolutely drenched. Basically you just walk up and down the street throwing water on each other. It’s a three daylong water fight.

To them, the water means renewing and cleansing themselves and others of the past year. If only they new there was a way to clean they form the inside out. That Jesus blood was spilled so they could be whiter than snow. There’s no other God that can offer that to them. It’s hard to walk down a street and know that none of them know what Jesus did for them. My heart breaks daily on the Race. Please pray for the people of Thailand. Pray that they see real God for who he is. Pray that they except Jesus free gift of salvation. Pray and be kind, sometimes that is all we can do.

Sara, me, and a couple of girls we meet on the street. Our water fight was epic.

My team on Easter Sunday.
