One of my goals for this mission trip is to learn as much as I can of the language and culture. Everyone I’ve met here in Serbia has been super helpful with learning the language. One of the first words I learned was “yes” which in Serbian is “Da”.
Last Saturday, I was outside playing with some of the local kids and the pastor’s youngest daughter. We played duck, duck, goose and volleyball. A bee stung the pastor’s daughter. We went inside and found her father. He put some cream on it. As she talked to him, telling him the story of the bee stinging her, she called her father “DaDa”, which means, “yes, yes”.
I believe the Lord spoke to me in that moment. When I heard her call her father “DaDa”, I heard God tell me “call me DaDa. Say yes to me and what I have in store for you”. God wants us to have open hearts and minds to His word. He has a path and purpose for each of us, if we’re willing to yes. Here I am at the beginning of a year-long mission trip and God is reminding me to say yes to him. What plans does He have for me? I’m not sure but I do know what my answer will be….Da.
