Dear Jordan,

After soccer camp today, we had to say goodbye. Personally, I had to hold back tears, because you have made a place for yourself in my heart.

At the beginning of soccer camp, two weeks ago, I saw you playing soccer from afar. I noticed you had the most intense face while you were playing, but that face turned into a scowl when you were off the field. To be honest you intimated me. I don’t know the right word, because unhappy is not it. But, you seemed to be in a constant state of unhappiness. It sadden my heart, so I started to pray for you and that week came and went. I missed many opportunities to talk to you.

Little did I know that this week, I would get to sit next to you! The Lord told me to be audacious and scratch your back, so I did. Next thing I know, we are having a full on conversation! Thank you for putting up with my broken spanish! I learned that you are nine years old and you thoroughly enjoy playing soccer. I learned that your dad is taxi driver and that your aunt is the same age as you. I learned so many things about you, but what you taught me is that a little bit of love can go long way.

Today, you came running up to me and I can not express the joy it brought me! In these two weeks, I saw such a transformation in your attitude. You went from a bit a mischevious boy who kind of secluded himself to a boy who had so much love and joy! Thank you for all that you taught me. I will never be able to repay you, but know that I will continue to pray that you will become the man of God I know you can become.

Love,

Abigail

Thank you for showing me how to love and have compassion on people that intimidate me! I will be praying for you. Know that you will forever have a place in my heart!
