I have an announcement to make about my World Race Journey:
Last week I made the decision to switch routes. I will no longer be leaving in January, instead I will be leaving in July.
There were several different reasons that prompted me to switch routes.
First, over the past few years I have not made the wisest choices with my finances. Due to school and car responsibilities and a few unwise spending habits I have accrued some debt, aside from student loans, that I would like to have taken care of before leaving for the race. I have been convicted of my poor spending habits and feel led to take responsibility for them. With a few more months between now and the race, I have a plan to be more responsible with my money and save up enough to pay for my student loans while on the race.
Second, I will be able to attend my college graduation. (Yay!)
Third, I will have more time to prepare spiritually, physically and mentally for the race. Being at home slightly feels like being in the desert spiritually. I am constantly caught up in distractions that keep me from actively seeking Christ. For whatever reason right now It just seems harder to have a passion for Christ while I am home living here. Every part of me just wants to leave to go on the race now because I know I will be forced to deal with my spiritual apathy. But I know that I am here now in the desert for a purpose. Little by little I am learning more.
Though I am sad to say goodbye to my January squad, I look forward to the new countries that I will be going to:
Albania
Turkey
Bulgaria
Romania
South Africa
Swaziland
Botswana
India
Nepal
Mongolia
China
