Hey all! It has been an amazing three weeks in Japan. Today we are saying farewell to our wonderful hosts, packing up, and taking a night bus towards Tokyo. Then, in a couple days, we will on our way to Taiwan!
Japan has been such a wonderful learning opportunity. God has been walking me through believing that I am wanted and excepted, that acknowledging personal weakness in an important part of fighting for those around you (a.k.a. swallow your pride and be okay with looking spiritually weak and needing help), and that I can trust God to lead me in ministry instead of trusting my self to force ministry to happen.
One such wonderful ministry opportunity I had was meeting and hanging out with my new friend, Tacuya, over the past few days.
He came in for coffee a couple days ago and we struck up a conversation. In that conversation I asked him if he knew who Jesus Christ is and he said yes but he only knew his name. He was totally open to hearing about Jesus and I was also able to give him one of the Japanese New Testaments that our host keeps at the coffee shop. We exchanged email and I encouraged him to send me any questions that he might have about the Bible. Please pray that the Lord speaks to him through His word and that he is a able to clearly understand the gospel.
Another opportunity I had, with Stone Hood, was to play spikeball and basketball with some kids down the street. Today Stone and I gave the oldest two soccer balls with the gospel in Japanese on them and those of us who had played with them signed the balls.
Thanks so much to J’s Café (above) for hosting us. If it wasn’t for them choosing to be first time hosts for the world race we would not have been able to come to Japan!
We had lots of fun team bonding around cooking our meals…
… and some adventures.
- Please be praying for our debrief and transition to three smaller team next month in Taiwan.
- Pray that I have wisdom to know how to finish up my fundraising
- Lastly, pray that each of us have abundant grace to continue to discover who God has made us instead of listening to the lies we used to believe
