Hey everybody! We have been staying fairly busy of late and my internet access this past month has been a little tricky, so I realize that I have got some catching up to do for you all. So let’s get started…
My Highlight from Taiwan
When we heard that the Lantern festival was going to be happening during our time in Taiwan we knew that we had to go. So we decided as a team that we would make a day trip out of it. We got someone from the local church to write on a couple homemade signs that we were offering “free” prayers for blessing and healing and hit the streets.
At first it was rather awkward, I felt rather like a homeless person standing there holding one of our signs as we waited to see what opportunities that the Lord would open up to us. Now, to be honest, I was kind of afraid that nothing would happen and we would just be left there standing with our signs looking silly. But this was one of those days that the Lord was showing me that ministry doesn’t necessarily happen because of us trying but simply because we place our time and our trust in His hands.
We got some odd look, some nods, and even some amens at first and then a mother and her little daughter came up and asked for prayer(in English no less). The mother said that they were believers and that she would like us to pray for her daughter, Pinky (pictured with us below). As Megan began to pray for this cute little girl her mother began to cry as God encouraged her with our simple act of obedience and in that moment I knew it didn’t matter if I held a sign and felt uncomfortable for the rest of the day; these people are worth it to me.
Later that day we met another mother-daughter pair and again the mother was a believer but her prayer request was that her teenage daughter (who was the one that was with her) would get saved. So we pray for her and hang out with them for a little while before they go on there way.
After that we went to see a waterfall that was near by (seen above) and on our way back we end up running into all four of the friends we had made earlier. These two families had never met each other before and hadn’t known us before today but the mother of the teenage girl said that she had some extra tickets to be a part of the festivities in the first launch of lanterns. So before we knew it we were all together in the lantern festival never having planned a moment but simply having given God free rain with our day. What would happen if we had the courage to trust God more then our own plans every day?
I want to encourage you all to ask yourselves, where are we missing out because we trust ourselves more then we trust God. As we find those places let’s risk “looking silly” or what ever it is that we let convince us not to trust God fully and pray for grace to trust our way through the great adventures that God has for us.
A couple other fun pictures
The guy on the left is the pastor of the church that we were working with after debrief in Taiwan (these two were the “Men in Black” roll for a drug awareness day that we got to be a part of)
This was a church that we met some people from and got to visit a couple of times during debrief and the girl in the center that Allie is doing peace signs over her head traveled with one of our teams and translated for them.
Prayer requests
- please be praying there has been a good bit of spiritual warfare and sickness on my team and the other teams as well this month.
- also please that I continue to hear and receive from the Lord about what He is teaching me on identity
- and lastly I still need to raise about $5,000 (hopefully by sometime in April) please pray that God give me wisdom to know what my part is and that He moves on the hearts of those that He is inviting to be a part of what God is doing in my life in this season.
Thank you all! I love you guys!
