Here we go with back to back blogging (and here’s hoping for future consistency ). On my mark, get set,… BLOG! (a.k.a. I’ve got an hour to do this)
China was interesting to be inside the country and meet people who live there on a daily basis. We meet so many friendly people, like a couple working at a convenient store who let me use there wifi and even walked me to a place to try to help me find a place to stay. The believers that we met were such an encouragement to be around watching how intentional they are in sharing the Good News and living for what is right. Please pray for our brothers and sisters in China. Many of them are under so much stress and pressure. Also in the past year may of them have lost pastoral leadership from other countries due to changing policies.
God also started challenging me to hope for bigger things in China. He has been calling me higher in the area of expectations. I have found that throughout my life I have subconsciously stuck with low expectations because that kept me emotionally safe from disappointment. I had let that dictate who I was willing to believe that God had made me and what I was willing to believe God was going to do in my life. (This is an ongoing conversation with the Lord currently so please pray that I am able to be able to be far enough into trusting the Lord in this conversation to blog about this soon).
In China a dozen or so of us got to sleep in a train station (by choice), play spikeball with locals, and soccer with grade school kids; all in the station. We stayed on the 34th floor of a high rise and got to share with middle schoolers, young adults, and parents.
We also went to the Great Wall of China
Well I am out of time, so I will leave you with this awesome video that my teammate, Molly Price, made of Beijing.
Thanks everybody! Next time will be Mongolia!
