I tried to put into words what it was that I learned at training camp. But that was nearly an impossible task. So I decided to make a list of just a few things I learned. To say I was filled to the brim would be an understatement.

57 things I learned at training camp

1. Doing training camp with your arm in a sling is a crazy experience.

2. It’s hard to walk in humility, but it’s so fruitful. 

3.  There is so much freedom in the name of Jesus.

4. It’s okay to ask for help.

5. We can include God in every decision we make.

6. God gives each of us a song to sing.

7. It is our job to love, Holy Spirit’s to convict, Jesus’ to save, and God’s to judge.

8. We need to stop singing Holy Spirit you are welcome here, because He is already here.

9. There is a big difference between guilt and conviction.

10. I have been gifted with a squad that fearlessly chases after Jesus.

11. Squad Y definitely has the best leadership team. Beyondddd blessed.

12. There is so much peace in uncertainty.

13. Holy Spirit came to convict, not condemn.

14. We all have our own expression of God.

15. Truth is not something you believe, truth is a person.

16. People will pray HARD for thunderstorms if it means sleeping inside.

17. Cliff bars are a great substitute for meals.

18. God delights when we delight.

19. It is not our job to heal, it is our job to obey. 

20. All we need is a “yes” in our spirit.

21. God’s voice always sounds like His word (whattttttt)

22. Bugs will attack you even if you are praying.

23. It’s not about me.

24. Sometimes doing nothing is something.

25. If the kingdom of God is an ocean, then we are all only ankle deep.

26. If our relationship with God doesn’t translate to when we are alone, then is it really a relationship?

27. The guys on my team are true examples of what it means to have a servant’s heart.

28. Faith will alter your life if you are obedient.

29. We don’t always have to have the answers, because God does.

30. We are blessed with the freedom to share our faith.

31. Promoting religion is conversion, promoting Jesus is transformation. (just sit on that one for a second)

32. There is no prayer that is too small.

33. There is something beautiful about like-minded believers coming together hoping to advance the kingdom of God.

34. Freedom is a real, tangible thing.

35. God is seeking you, not your gifts.

36. God waters the seeds He plants.

37. Humility is the key ingredient to listening to people with love.

38. Forgiveness is extremely hard but also extremely necessary. When we look at people like Jesus did, we can give freely and sincerely.

39. We are ministers of a Gospel that is not ours.

40. An engine needs all of the other parts of the car to function properly. (thanks Courtney for that word)

41. Honor is not something you have, it is something you give.

42. There is a huge difference between surrender and commitment.

43. God gives us the authority to use His name against fear and shame and guilt and doubt. There is incredible power in His name.

44. God loves us too much to leave us where we are. 

45. Jesus wanted to feed the five thousand but He needed to partner with the disciples first.

46. We are all one of a kind, but we are one of His kind. (thanks Deon)

47. Sometimes our memory of sin is longer than God’s. Because He CANNOT remember.

48. God meets us where we are and loves that we are there.

49. I have never sweated for ten days straight so consistently. Gotta love Georgia stickiness.

50. We were made to live in a community of intentional, Christ-centered friendships.

51. My squad absolutely destroyed the fitness hike. Shout out to my team for basically running the whole thing as I cheered from the sidelines.

52. Jesse gives more fist bumps than anyone I’ve ever met.

53. Squad Y guys team definitely won the dance off. (I don’t care what the leaders say)

54. Crickets really don’t taste that bad.

55. Our race doesn’t start when we leave the country, it started the moment we said yes.

56. God is not safe. But He is good.

57. Training camp took all of my expectations and threw them out the window. Oh what a nine months this is going to be…
