on the October team, so I began looking for the list of names. I clicked on the
first person on the list. His name was Aaron Darlington. I read the one and
only blog that he had posted on his website to get to know him a little better. It
was getting really late, I was tired, but something kept me at my computer. So I
stayed. Not really having anything to do, seeing as it was 1 in the morning, I went
to check my facebook. Strangely enough, I had a message waiting for me.
Curious, I opened it and began reading. It was from a girl who I know by name and face, but rarely EVER talk to. The message said this:
‘Hey. So this is going to seem really weird, but my family just found out
today that my dad has leukemia. I was just wondering if you wouldn’t mind praying
for him, it would mean a lot and I know you’re very close with God. Thank you
so much, I hope all the prayers I ask for will work wonders. I KNOW they will.’
Aaron’s blog about his father being diagnosed with terminal cancer and how he was
miraculously healed and the cancer never returned, I received a message asking
for prayer about my friend’s father who had been diagnosed with cancer. It
was such a perfect opportunity to share his story! Aaron wrote about BELIEVING
and his story of faith when his very own father had been diagnosed with
cancer. It was exactly what my friend needed to hear. She needed that hope. There
is a hope that her father will be healed. I have faith that he will because God
is GOOD and the power of prayer is so great. I sent her his blog, and she read
it. She said it brought her to tears. Her heart was aching for something to
cling to, something to hope for, and his story was just the thing she needed at
that moment. God’s perfect timing is perfect. We are all one, part of the
same body of Christ, sharing testimonies and stories, encouraging one another.
Praise God for Aaron and for allowing me to stumble across his blog. Thank you for allowing
me to be your tool tonight Lord, to offer hope through his story.”
I serve as a leader for boys in the 1st Assembly of Gods Royal Rangers
church program and I am very concerned about the decline of spiritual
development of the boys in our country. To try and make a difference I
have decided to base my senior project on the importance of mentorship
for boys and men within the church. I believe that the lack of mens
participation in the church is a result of some of the terrible
statistics boys are falling into today (high drop out rates, divorce
rates, alcoholism, domestic abuse.) The intent of the written project
is to influence men into committing to a mentorship program, and
eventually sharing their development by mentoring their sons or the
sons of those dads that are not around (ie. military, or divorced moms).
Part of my project includes a presentation, and I would love to use
your video as an example of a young boys pure love towards God that
must be protected and developed through prayer and mentorship. The
video will only be shown in class to about 20 of my peers, and with
furtther permission I may use it as a devotion to our church
congregation.
If you agree to allow me the use of this video, I would be glad to send
you a copy of the written article as well as the presentation when they
are finished. This is a lengthy process and the final product will not
be complete until the winter of 2009.
thank you for your time and the blessings of seing the Love of Christ
through such a wonderful child.”
create the world and then leave it alone to run
all by itself. Because of his love for us, we have the privilege of working with Him.
The best example of how to do this is to look
at how Jesus did it, because Jesus perfectly fulfilled
every assignment that God gave Him. He never failed
to do His Father’s will. Look at John 5:17,19-20,
where the Jewish leaders were harassing Jesus
for breaking their rules by working on the Sabbath.
Jesus replied to them:
“My Father never stops
working, so why should I? I assure you, the
Son can do nothing by himself. He does only
what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the
Father does, the Son also does. For the Father
loves the Son and tells him everything he is
doing.
to join in God’s work:
God, I know You are always at work around
me. Thank You for working through ordinary
people like me. I want to take part and
I ask that you invite me to join You in
Your work. Show me your assignment for me.
I wait for You to take the initiative, as
I abide in you. I know You will work through
me to accomplish Your perfect will. I pray
this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
