Some of you that are reading this may have seen one of the blogs posted by a few of my teammates about a precious little girl named Chosen. She was a girl without anything, including an identity. These teammates took the initiative of fundraising $160 USD in order to get her papers/citizenship. They set a 48 hour goal to raise this money. God was faithful to it and all glory to Him, they raised more than five times the needed amount. This is such a good thing. This extra money will allow Chosen to have good healthcare and a good education. Everyone who gave effectively is helping to lift this little girl out of poverty and hopelessness.

As a team we had talked about this fundraiser and decided to go forward with it. However, there were two other things we desired to fundraise for too. This is why I am writing you all. We need your help to bless two more people.

1)      The first of these people is one of the YWAM staff at the Ratchaburi base. He lives with the team and I. His name is Mongkhon and he is probably one of the most loving guys you’ll ever meet. He has a servants heart and continually goes out of his way to make sure the team and I are happy, comfortable and well fed. Mongkhon needs glasses. He’s had a pair of glasses for a while now but they have been held together by tape for some time. Both the arms of these glasses are broken and the lenses are scratched to the point where any glasses wearer would go crazy.

This is Mongkhon! We often get to do ministry with him
and his patience and love for God’s kids is astounding.

As a team we wanted to bless Mongkhon with a new pair of glasses and went to see how much it would cost. The cost 3300 Baht, which works out to about $114 CAD or $107 USD. The problem, that doesn’t fit into our budget. So here we are, asking all of you to be another big part of our journey on this race. This is a way that we can very practically meet a need that is there for a man that never wanted more than to serve God with what God has given him – broken glasses or not.

2)      The second fundraiser we’d like to do is not just for one person but for a family. This is the family that lives down the street for us and runs a restaurant out of the front of their home. Walking past it you’d never think this is a good place to eat. It’s got grease stains on the walls and ceiling; the walls are missing paint and have a dingy look to them. It’s just not a great looking place. Nonetheless this was the place our host/contact recommended we eat at, and not without reason. Wit, Boo and their family are not just great cooks, they are also great people with huge hearts. I can’t tell you how many times they have blessed us. Many a time as we have sat down at their restaurant and eaten the food they’ve cooked for us, Wit will sneak back find some fresh fruit they just got, cut it up and bring it to us. A simple gesture but one pure of heart. They also share their dog Ohm-Mo with us. This is probably Ali’s favourite part. From time to time you’ll find someone from the team walking the little guy and Wit and Boo are happy to give us the luxury of having a pet away from home. Moral of the story, these are people with beautiful hearts that have loved to bless us, but we want to be able to do the same back. The problem is, like before, it is not feasibly possible in our budget. Our plan is to, as a team, take a day or two to sand down/clean the walls from all the gross on them and then give it a fresh coat of paint. It might seem simple but I know this will make a world of difference to Wit, Boo and their family. The cost for paint is going to be between $48 and 65 CAD or $45 and 58 USD. We plan on painting their restaurant during the night of January 27th.

Thank you once again to each of you for being the blessing that got us on this crazy adventure known as the World Race and I thank you in advance for the blessing I know you will be for each of these people. Thank you for being attentive to the heart strings in us that have been plucked. Talk to you in 48.
