Waterfall Worship

Hello, my dear readers!! I hope these words find you well and in good spirits. I come to you today to just share with you a very UN-expected ministry opportunity that my team and team Daybreak have gotten a chance to be a part of.

You see, as I wrote in a previous blog about being in the studio and singing the chorus to a worship song our contact, Pastor Patrick has been recording, we have thus gotten the chance to be in a few music videos for the same album we got to be recorded on.

Here's the rundown of our day being filmed:

Wednesday morning we are told to be up super early for breakfast and then to leave to go to two waterfalls and two churches. We leave later than we were told, nothing new here, as 'this is Africa' and schedules are always flexible. Once, Producer Patrick, Paul, Lincoln, Grace, Whitney and a few others get here in the studio's van we all pile in and head out.

We make a couple of stops in town, then drive to the waterfall we have already visited this month and again I am taken away by it's beauty! Producer Patrick and Paul get us in position and then Paul begins to take video of us sing the song 'Uwabudiwe' that we got recorded on. It is a worship song and that's exactly what I did. Splendid!!

After this, we headed to the van, then traveled to a very large church that well was gigantic, yet beautiful and a sentinel of light on it's hill of a location! Here we sang and danced on the stage in the sanctuary, not just our song, but two others that are on the album as well! We had fun just dancing and worshipping to God, even if it was before a camera. When we finished, we had some down time so I put in my headphones and worshipped by myself looking out the window at the very distinct and beautiful clouds that are so readily available here in Kenya. It is here where God asked me for my heart concerning the dreams I've been having this month and to trust in Him concerning those. I didn't understand it, but I laid my heart down at His cross once more.

We headed out after the van had it's topped raised, and it seemed like we were in a safari jeep to look out at the animals while being completely safe. On the way to the second waterfall, we got in a fender-bender (we're safe and ok), stopped for lunch near our house, ate in the van for being ravenous, and on the road to the second waterfall ran out of gas in the van. Exciting right!!

It's ok though, we did like most people do in tough situations and sang 'Hakuna Matata', which here in Kenya actually does mean 'No worries'…Awesome!! I got out of the van and rapped one of my poems on video. Please do not ask me what made me do that, I just did it. I then began walking with Paul and having a great conversation with him and know that he is an amazing man of God just looking to serve Him and bring Kingdom!

Alright, so we made it to the next waterfall and I must say…my breath was taken away! The waterfall (all three different kinds) was beyond gorgeous and beautiful and I relished just taking pictures from every different angle I could. We performed another song on video in two different groups. Then, it began to rain and wow, was I not ready to experience such beauty and grace from God. I seriously wanted to just sit and soak it all in, but I had my camera and needed to get it dry. We all began the trek up the way we came (no easy task) and helped each other to the top to get in the van and head home.

As we got home, I decided to take a cold bucket shower and as I was doing so it dawned on me just how much God loves us and adores us. I never in my wildest dreams would have imagined myself being not only recorded on a worship song, but also in a music video or three for worship songs here in Kenya. How amazing is that!?! Remember…no expectations. Ha!

My God is good and stay tuned for the next blog that talks about His goodness and teachings I needed to learn after being sick the night after our music video shoot. Thank you and I love you!!
