So, the other morning during prayer I asked my team and team Daybreak to write out on a piece of paper who God is to them. I, then, took their papers and came up with this poem. I read it the other night to everyone and started shaking as I read it. I'm not entirely sure, but I felt like I was right before God with this poem reading it to Him and shook from the very essence of the words that speaks of who He is. Enjoy!
Our God, Our Love
We search and we search,
Then search some more,
Until our knuckles bleed
And our eyes become sore.
What do you mean to us?
Who do you represent?
My God, my God,
We come before your Holy Tent.
You see, most would call you indescribable,
Then try in hopes and vain
To tell you all that you mean to them,
I cannot endure that pain.
So, my God I will tell you the truth,
Words alone cannot describe you
And all that you mean to each one of us,
Yet we come and your love we hold onto.
Just to say to you, the ultimate, Heaven-ward Father,
Our pleasant kins-man redeemer
Within the realms of our hearts and souls,
Who longs for us to be passionate dreamers.
Yes, you never let go, you know us through and through,
As we sit for dinner at your table,
In order for you to seek us and know us
Within the lives of our fables.
The beat of our hearts draws near to you,
Our Jehovah-Rophe, our souls you caress,
Our Jehovah-Jireh, all needs you provide,
As the days go on, our lives you bless.
How could we ever tell you the fullness you bring?
You call us your royal heirs,
Adopted sons and daughters
For those your grace flares.
You, our Rock, Comforter, and Refuge,
We share all with you within our souls,
As we quest for the secret place
And rest from the world's fiery coals.
We give you all the Glory,
While we talk within the confines of your diary,
Yet, you hold it all in, our special Confidant,
And lead us through evil's binary.
Elohim, our love,
Continue to be our faithful one,
Our Comforter, Provider, Healer, Helper,
My God, don't cease the light of the Son!
The quest never ends to find who you represent,
We have to search and search just to be sure
Of the realities of your truth and power
That brings about the world's cure.
Abba, Daddy, hear us now,
Our Love, the discourse throughout the land,
You, strong and faithful to a 'T'
To help us through any of life's quicksand.
The love of our lives, our best friend,
Who knows us through and through
No matter how much we hide
We belong to you and your Holy crew.
Oh, our life, light and love,
We belong to you, our Holy King,
For you the only reason to live;
Indeed the only reason to sing.
On your throne you sit,
Our passion and obsession
As you call us and use us
To retake all of your possessions.
We bow at your feet, our Adonai,
Continue to be our strength and joy;
Continue to lead and guide us
Through every evil attack and ploy.
You, O God, the Good Shepherd to the sheep,
Alive and well within our lives,
The Great and Mighty I AM,
Put us under your microscopic knives.
Though we fall away and lose sight of you at times,
You take us up and never let go
As we go about within your creativity
To dance and sing all that we know.
Yes, Righteous One, we exist because of you,
Alpha and Omega, the Start and the End,
Regardless if we understand or not,
You always to be our friend.
Our God, our God,
Within the confines of your inexplicable love,
Continue to be the truth-teller
And pentrate us with your grace from above.
Therefore, our Jehovah-Nissi, El Elyon,
Go before and behind, Mighty Banner,
Lead on with your incomparable power
And let the Christ stay the example of the Holy manner.
We bow down before you with reverence and love,
Never to forget Jesus, the Lamb,
The final sacrifice for our weary land
Your Son and treasure of the Fam.
So, as we search and search within ourselves,
Jehovah-Shalom, we come before your throne
To thank you for your love and grace,
We welcome the joy of being known.
Hear our prayers and acknowledgement,
We sing out with your angelic hosts
Our Jehovah-Elohim, we give praise,
As we take up our divine posts.
So, Jehovah-M'Kaddesh, sanctify our tears,
Within the night's absence
We serve and glorify your Name–
Our God, our Love, we rest in your presence.
Thumbs up!
Ominous…yet beautiful.
