Wheewww…
I
wish I knew how to truly write the words that I so long to share, but
alas, I am afraid I really don’t know how to write them. Here’s a few
synopsis of the past week (separated into two parts:
Sunday
~ church at Vida Real and then lunch with friends. Crepes are amazing!
Every day we meet new travelers who come to stay in Mochileros where we
are…some from Australia, Germany, England, Ireland, China, United
States, Holland, Denmark and so many others…it’s soo cool to talk to
them and hear their stories and they wish to hear ours. Awesome!
Monday
~ Zeb and I cleaned some beds, luggage and other things before I went
in to help play with the kids. Manuel rubbed his hands on my beard and
then pulled it a little…so cute. He really does remind me of Alijah.
Tuesday
~ Went to the hospital again, though I was there a lot less of the
time, because I went off with Luis to run some errands, fun times.
Ervin, Lanz, Maynor, Elmer, Diego, Henry, Sonia, Ariana…just some of
the names of the kids at the hospital who have tugged our hearts. Then
we went to the YWAM base a little outside of Antigua and cleaned it up. I
played around on the drum set there and think I want to take lessons
some time (Cordell??). I also found a basketball and just went to town
dribbling around the main area letting off steam and just being so happy
to have a basketball in my hands!! We also went for a prayer walk around town after dinner and I just touched random buildings, doors, and windows praying for God to come. Good stuff.
Wednesday
~ We went with Glendy into Guatemala City to take the kids to the play
section of Oakland Mall, which is a four-story (plus the stories of the
parking garage so like 8, only the bottom ones are very small) mall with
a North Face store, and soo many other brands. Ridiculous! So fun to
play with the kids though and celebrated one of the nanny’s birthdays
too!
~ We went back to the hospital after breakfast at Camino’s Cafe and
after Chelsea and I went with Shannon to get money out. At the bank, the
teller had a Pinky and the Brain mouse pad and so Chelsea busted out
dancing and singing the theme song. Hilarious! Anyway, at the hospital, I
had the pleasure of pushing Lanz around and bringing smiles to him when
we raced Linda (a young woman visiting from North Carolina for school
who is of Asian descent…she’s pretty much awesome!) and Carlolitos who
she was pushing. Near the end of that time I pushed Elmer around and we
had to avoid Ervin, which made him laugh to no end.
group was that night, worshiping and singing to our Creator in both
English and Spanish…such a joyous noise! On the way there though, I
was staring at the full moon and just felt overwhelmed by a lot and
could feel the enemy trying to stop me from the work God’s doing in and
through me…it was difficult. (more on this in a second.) We also
celebrated our friend, Michelle’s birthday at small group and got cake.
😀
that night during my shower the enemy, the father of lies, really
started throwing a lot of lies my way, like I had nothing to offer to
this team and nothing to offer to God and nothing to offer to the people
we encounter…that I am good for nothing pretty much. I cried myself
to sleep that night.
