Closer

I've been dwelling a bit on my prayer in the last blog about needing to be closer to God. I am not sure what entirely that looks like, to be honest, but I know it is something He is leading me through and to. I've looked up some verses to share as well:

"And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him." ~Genesis 5:24

Enoch was so close and intimate with God that the Lord took him away from the world. I'm not saying I need to be taken away, but that intimacy level is something I long for.

"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." ~Matthew 6:33

"I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently will find me." ~Proverbs 8:17

These two verses grant hope to a weary traveler, such as I, for when our travels through this life become overwhelming, the One we need to turn to first is our Father. Not that I'm weary because of the Race, but weary from the demands of this journey we call life. Either way, I'm being called to run to Him!

"Let us know, let us pursue the knowledge of the LORD. His going forth is established as the morning; he will come to us like the rain, like the latter and former rain to the earth." ~Hosea 6:3

To pursue Him is to get closer to Him. He desires this level of pursuit and as He will add to our blessings, He will drench us in His presence of love and grace like rain.

"Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. …I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." ~Philippians 3:12,14

    Read that again.

        Press on.

            Draw closer.

Move ever more into His presence.

Basically, as we draw closer to our Father we are transformed more and more into the men and women He first created us to be. Our transformation, then allows us to get even closer to the 'teleia agape' (perfect love) of God!

Now read Psalm 91, probably a few times and see how drawing closer to Him allows for us to gain a dwelling of shelter and refuge within His great wingspan.

        Wow!

This is what the King is ever calling me into, which means I'm going to go do that now through prayer and worship!!

First, however, I will end by sharing a video of Shawn McDonald's new single, 'Closer'. Enjoy!!!
