Chicken Box-Squawks

So, wow…to adequately reveal just how crazy the last few days have been will be an interesting challenge!!

First, our time in Jinja was a blast, even though I may not have been able to do any of the adventures others partook in, I was blessed to spend our one full day with my beautiful squadmate Becca, and her friend Ivan, visiting villages in the middle of Uganda. We traveled through maize and sugar cane fields with spectacular views all around to visit villages that Ivan has homes for orphans he helps take care of. Becca and I prayed for some of them and for a pastor and his family who were sick with malaria and I got to witness seeing Becca's heart in action, which I can tell you was nothing short of amazing.

Second, we ended our time by traveling on buses to Nairobi, Kenya and then to Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. On our bus, was our team, Team Daybreak and Team Frontline and I got to finally hear my bestie, Nikki's testimony. However, we sat in the back of the bus and under our seats was a box with a chicken in it, which would randomly squawk when the box was kicked by accident or the bus hit bumps. The views all night long and all day were spectacular, as well, with passing ostriches, babboons, and once in Tanzania…Mt. Kilamanjaro.

mountains all along the way

Everyone was tired and frustrated from the random and different things happening. Once we were in Tanzania, my heart sank because it seemed too dark and the people didn't seem friendly, but I think that may have been from our lack of sleep. We made it to Dar Es Salaam and waited for Mac's team's pastor, who showed up and took our three teams to their team's house for the month, not far from a beach and we got to sleep. I slept on a love seat, not comfortable, but considering I was without a lot of sleep I slept like a baby…literally at one point (in the fetal position).

We still had lots of fun and great time with one another. The next day, Dex and Josh's teams made it to the house and we found out where everyone was staying for the night. We left early in the morning for an eventful time getting on the bus with our luggage and journeyed to Iringa Town. Dex, Josh, and our team finally made it yesterday evening and met our contact. An amazing man of God and they have us set up in a house not unlike the dormitories in Honduras, only smaller, with even colder showers than Panama. Crazy!

Now, we get set to spend a month working together with Team Pneuma, spreading the Gospel and loving on all the people we meet. After getting here to Iringa Town, I have come to realize that the time in Dar Es Salaam was a little soured by all our travel and that this month is going to be extremely amazing!

Well, until next time, be blessed and let the peace of Christ resonate in your hearts and souls. I love you all!! Also, safaris here are only thirty dollars, so God knew what He was doing by not providing the money for me to go in Kenya, nor for me to do the adventure stuff in Uganda. He is so amazing!! GO JESUS!!

*Note: 40+ hours of traveling on a bus, while getting two nights of sleep somehow on a tiny love-seat are NOT cool…just sayin'.

sunset…sooo pretty!
