Today, I want to write to you about belief and Alex Smith.

Now, I am a big sports fan (football and basketball) and my team is not the San Francisco 49er's (I'm a Dolphins fan and proud to be).

Anyways, I watched the Monday Night Football game last night of the Pittsburgh Steelers vs the 49er's and was impressed by the team of the Bay area. Their defense showed up for sure and their special teams unit, but so did Alex Smith and the offense.

Yes, THE Alex Smith, who was drafted first overall so many years ago and ended up being stamped: BUST.

I don't want to focus on that though, nor on the two power outages in the stadium to delay the game, instead I want to talk about what the analysts AFTER the game ended up saying about Alex Smith.

Trent Dilfer and Steve Young (two great QBs in their time) talked about how the 49er's coach, Jim Harbaugh, BELIEVED in Alex Smith. Mr. Young mentioned that Coach Harbaugh gave Smith the playbook at the beginning of the season after taking the position as coach and told him to learn it, but also start teaching it. The funny thing: Alex Smith wasn't even on the team at that moment.

However, it is this point that I think why the 49er's are 11-3…on top of their stellar defensive and special teams play and Frank Gore's running most of the season.

Stay tuned for part two on why this is important:
