'As You Wish'

I wander into the night,
Inheritance in hand
Set to go my own way,
My plans oh so grand!

Easier to ask than I thought–
All He said, 'As you wish,'
And on my way I went
With five loaves and two fish.

I look back into those eyes,
Full of love, yet a hint of pain,
Not sure how to react
Must go before plans slain.

The wilds of youth, neon gold,
Sets the planets a new course,
Yet ends in sorrow and darkness
To give the soul remorse.

Broke, down-trodden, weary,
I better beg, yes time to beg;
Walk the line of tears
Ready to fall on either leg.

Over the crest of Father's realm,
Far off glances from bowed head
Runs the One I scorned–
Sobs led by tears shed.

Embrace, embrace, oh embrace,
But how Father I wasted it all,
I lost in every way
Made the ultimate fall.

Gentle words flow,
"My son, it was childish, foolish,
Yet I cannot hate you
For I said, 'As you wish.'"
