In a small little farm community in the heart of Romania is where we are finding ourselves. Mostly full of the lovely gyspy people Ville La Tecii is a warm and friendly community that will capture your heart if you allow it. The exciting part of this month is that our whole squad is together in one place and serving around the community together. Not only our squad, but 3 teams from the August launch as well. Total world racers in one small little village equals roughly 70.
These people have never seen so many Americans all at once and I am sure that we almost double the population. It is a town that has been over looked for many years and was in desperate need of some outside love and support. Our contact John has been living here for quite some time, having come here from the States. He and his wife have been pouring out to the community for some time and are excited to see how we can help. Some of the projects that we are involved in is helping with construction projects, apple picking, home visits and prayer, church services, children’s programs, woman’s outreaches, farming and more.
Team Luminous lives in a small two room house with Carmen and Muriel this month. Two wonderful friends who speak little to no english but have such servant hearts. It will be our job to pour into them and serve them in projects that they need help with and with the families that lead us to. Muriel is a fantastic cook, he is all about the oil and butter though, so no fear moms of Benny and Dave, your boys will gain back some weight this month, and us gals will have to fast to keep from finding it as well. (I joke)
Each day we draw our water from the well outside the house, and we have no place to shower as the outhouse really isn’t the best option, but we are happy to live the simple life and love the living back in 1910 feel, complete with horse and buggies that go by the house. In the fields you see the sheep with their shepard boys and there is a stunning lake with weeping willows that stirs this gals heart.
In true Melissa style I have become the pied piper of the village and have a following of the greatest little people. We spend most of our days together. But please pray for me as I have been sick again with an infection in my kidneys, but even though I am resting, the intercesor in me is praying constantly for the people and the squad. Thanks for your love. Salude from Ville La Tecii
