Here is a copy of my support letter for those of you that are interested(:

Family & friends,

As you may have already heard, I have been accepted into a program called the World Race Gap Year program starting in September 2019,  This program takes college-aged students on a nine-month mission trip to focus on Christian service, discipleship, and adventure. Since February of this year, I have wrestled with God as I tried to understand His plan for my future. However, I have come to the realization that I do not need to know all the answers. All I have to do is say “yes.” I am beyond excited to be the hands and feet of Jesus as I embark on this crazy adventure and learn to live freely in the Lord.

The route that I have prayerfully considered and been accepted to, route six, includes Swaziland, Thailand, and Nicaragua. In the small, but broken land of Swaziland, I will be working with my team and an international staff to serve the orphans and underserved children there. Human trafficking is a huge and growing problem in Thailand that my team will carefully minister around as we minister to the women in the industry and cover them in prayer. This is probably the ministry that I am most hesitant about, but also the most excited about because I am eager to see what the Holy Spirit will do through and for my teammates and me. In Nicaragua, where I hope to put my Spanish skills to the test, I will be playing and building relationships with abandoned children and sharing the love and joy of Jesus with them.

This past month as I have been immersed in my application, interview, and initial preparations, I have gotten to know some of my team members and have begun fundraising. Through this, I have felt surrounded by so much love. My World Race community is so loving and prayerful and I could not be more thankful for the connections we have already made through social media. Route Six has began a bible study together through the Bible app, which allows us to have discussion after our individual devotions. Everyone that I have met has just been so encouraging and intentional, and I am so excited to meeting everyone! Not only have my team members been encouraging, but so have many of my family and friends. The only thing is, they aren’t quite sure how they can help me.

There are two very important things that I need help with: fundraising & a solid prayer team.

I need to raise $16,600 in order to go on this mission trip. For those of you who are interested in helping me financially, the best way to donate is online at my website, katerolffs.theworldrace.org. Click the orange “Donate!” button in the top right hand corner and enter your information. You may also help me fundraise by participating in fundraisers. Contact me if you would like to write a check.

If you are interested in being a part of my prayer team, please let me know! I need a solid group of believers to surround me in prayer as I prepare, serve, and process this huge trip. Prayer is a very important part of this journey to me, and God has laid it on my heart to make sure that you will be supporting me and encouraging me, even through my toughest moments. Nine months is a long time, and I realize this is a huge commitment. I would love to talk with you about it if you feel called! I want you to know that I see this as a partnership too, and I will be praying for you as well.

If you are interested in hearing more about the World Race Gap year, or if you would like to have further conversation with me, hit me up for coffee or shoot me a text/email!!

Thank you so much for all of your support!

I love you all so much,

Kate Rolffs
