A day on El Camino for me looks something like this:
6 – 6:30am Wake up and get ready for the day
7 – 7:30am Eat a piece of bread, fruit or nuts for breakfast
7:30 – 7:45am Begin hiking
10:30 – 11:30 After going 10 – 15k, I will stop in a cafe for tortilla and fresh orange juice or cafe con leche and take a 45 – 60 min break
3 – 5:00pm I will look for an albergue to spend the night in after going another 10 – 15k
3 – 7pm Take a shower, wash clothes, spend time with other pilgrims around the town
7 – 8:30pm Have a community dinner with other pilgrims
9 – 10pm Go to bed
– My longest day so far was 38k and my shortest was 10k
– I wear the same clothes to hike in each day because I wash them each night. If I wash them after 5pm, they will be damp but once I start walking they dry/get sweaty
– I have hiked with people for an hour and up to a few days
– People are very friendly and open
– I have stayed in albergues with as many as 120 people and as few as 2
