Friday I had a sweet one on one with Regan, my squad leader. As I shared my heart with her, she stopped me for a second and challenged me to do something. ”I want you to write a letter to your week one self.“ I am struggling to see true growth in myself & feel a little bogged down and confused with what God’s trying to show me right now. So, I sat down & just let the Lord take the pen, and wrote this:

Dear Sierra,

The Sierra that Regan had to pull out of the car Sierra. I bet that as you pulled onto AIM’s campus alone, petrified, and gripping your steering wheel for dear life, you had no clue you would be calling this place home & truly meaning it. You are going to grow your wings, finally. You’re going to gain 5 sisters that you now call team Ecclesia, and y’all are going to be very… interesting. (lol) I promise they are going to love and adore you, and they are even going to think you’re smart. I know you’re worried about that. Living in a tent is FUN, and honestly the best way you’ve lived so far. The first few nights feel hard & weird, but trust me when I say you need so little & won’t be missing much. You will pull up to campus and feel literally numb & paralyzed with fear from head to toe, but you just wait until you get that first taste of true unbridled joy and freedom. This is what you’ve been longing for. All that time you were craving a person or place that you couldn’t quite put a finger on… this is it. This is gonna be good. So hang in there, take a breath, peel your sweaty fingers off of your steering wheel, grab your belongings & confidently walk into your new world. Do it afraid. I believe in you. God’s about to do what only He can do.

Love, week 8 Sierra.
