Hello everyone! I guess I better tell you all a bit about myself.
I am 21 years old, and I currently live in Gulfport, Mississippi. I say “currently live in” instead of “am from” because I have lived a few different places throughout my life. I was actually born in Costa Rica, but my family moved shortly thereafter to Honduras. All my earliest memories take place in Honduras. We stayed there until I was between 4-5 years old, and then we moved back to the States to live in New Orleans, Louisiana (just in time for Hurricane Katrina). That’s where most of my childhood took place because we lived there for just over 10 years before moving to Mississippi. Each of these places has impacted me greatly, and I honestly have to say I am “from” all of them.
Now, on to the hobbies/interests. I love to read fiction (or anything by C. S. Lewis). And, while we are on the subject, we might as well get this out of the way because it is essential to my personality: I am obsessed with everything to do with the Lord of the Rings. I read the book when I was 12, and since then I can only say that some books have been as good. None have surpassed it.
Also, I love to listen to music (like, a lot) but I always get tripped up whenever anyone asks me what kind of music I listen to. I really don’t even know. Film and video game soundtracks are my go-to for when I am doing school, but I also have a soft spot for classical music. (Please don’t quiz me on composers though.) That’s pretty much the only music I like on a genre-basis. Everything else I like is pretty eclectic, so I’ll just list some artists: Carman (Sunday School Rock anyone?), Chris Rice, Newsboys, Phil Wickham, For King and Country, Steven Curtis Chapman, Lindsey Sterling, and so on. Oh yeah, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Glen Miller, and all those cats are fab as well. I also like select pop songs, but I feel like explaining my rationale for these would get waaaay too complicated.
Anyway, in addition to reading and music, I also really enjoy watching movies and TV. My favorite movie (excluding LOTR) is probably either Inception or the original Mummy movie. I don’t really have a favorite TV show, although I really love M.A.S.H. Now is also probably a good time to admit that I waste far too much time watching Kdramas.
I must also admit that I attempt to play the piano sometimes, but I have never truly put in the work to be able to perform anything in front of others. It’s really more like noodling around. I also recently picked up the guitar (and I mean recently—I’m still working on callouses).
That’s probably more than enough to go on for now, but I am super excited to see what opportunities for growth the upcoming months will bring!
