Hey wonderful people the Lord has called me to go on the world Race! I have heard about this program for a little over 2 years. I would see the people that went and just thought of how amazing these people were. I would think to myself “I am not the right person for this”. I would blame it saying that the Lord was just not calling me. In reality, I was like maybe one day I’ll be a more mature Christian then I will apply. I am not knowledgeable enough to step out in faith like that. Only Amazing Christians go on the Race ..right?
The Lord has been teaching me that I do not have to be perfect to be a christian. He has also been teaching me lately that in my own church life I do not have to clean myself up or be perfect to go to church. There is a difference though. I have to be a repentant sinner continually looking to Lord for each day. Isn’t that literally what the Gospel is about! HE came for someone like me! I am not perfect, and I can do absolutely NOTHING to get God to love me. He chose me and I did nothing to deserve it. The definition of grace is getting something even though you don’t deserve it.
For by Grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God—Ephesians 2: 8
SO, in my mind I thought that the world race is different. I thought that I have to be this amazing person to go. Isn’t that backwards? I am not this awesome person. However, Jesus died for someone even like me so then through HIM do I have the ability to go! If you are struggling with questions of whether Lord is calling you for ANY mission opportunity, know that the Lord has called everyone to be mission minded. He has called every Christian to be disciple makers. He has called you. HE doesn’t call the Equipped He Equips the called.
