¡Hola amigos! Get ready for a long blog about the most beautiful place! After Jaco we ended up in a small village, Vigía, which is a change of pace to say the least. I LOVE IT HERE!! My heart is so full and I feel like this is where I was supposed to be! My team is staying inside a church and our host family lives with us. We may be working on the church and the house, but this whole time the pastor and his family have been pouring blessings onto us! Basilio (el pastor) is the sweetest man, and though he doesn’t speak any English, we all find him hilarious. Time with Basilio looks like swinging a machete, super slow conversations, hikes to pet cows, and otra adventuras! His wife Isomar (la pastora) is the kindest woman with the biggest servants heart. We’ve bonded over our annoyance over the dog and whenever we can’t understand each other, which is all the time, we just end up laughing hysterically. She’s always telling us how beautiful we are, dolling our hugs, making faces, and trying to was our clothes! Deglyss is their older boy and he’s so genuine and caring when he’s not making fun of me or telling me somethings too dangerous! Axel is their other son and I think he’s the funniest boy I’ve ever met!… he also moves in slow motion. I’m so thankful for the welcome they gave us and the family they’ve created that makes Vigía feel like home! Our days start at 6am when Basilio yells “LISTO” to let us know breakfast is ready. Every single meal has rice and beans… every one of them, and I have no complaints. Adrian is the cook that spoils us crazy! We’re fed breakfast at 6, fruit at 9:30, lunch at 12, snack/coffee at 2:30, and dinner at 6:30. Some of the best Gallo pinto and plantains ever! But after breakfast we get to work. Team fuerte has been clearing out the huge wall of dirt behind their house and the church so that we can build a wall that will keep their house from flooding next rainy season! It’s hard but fun work… and I’ve got calluses dad!! We work until lunch, when it’s too hot, and then we do our team times and devotions. Then my favorite part of the day rolls around! Kippah and I walk to the plaza at around 4 almost everyday to hang out with all the kids in the community. After school all the boys come to play on the soccer field, ride bikes, and hang out. Watching these boys kill in soccer while I just try to keep up with the ball has become the highlight of my trip! They’re so impressive and the boys are so much fun! Slowly, the number of boys who come to the church at night to play cards, hang out with us, and listen to our worship has really grown! Every free moment I have is spent kicking butt in speed, building community, and making soooo many friendship bracelets! This place and the people here are so special and I’m already in love with Vigía. Gods doing great things in me and through me here. I see him everywhere! I’ve never been to such a peaceful place that has Christ so evidently everywhere you look! From surprise services in the neighboring town to random lunches at sweet peoples houses, the beauty and love of Christ has been shown to me every moment here. Thank you Vigía for letting me love you and thank you God for bringing me here! Couldn’t be happier!!
