Hi everyone! Quick update for you all. This one is a little scatterbrained, but that’s okay.
Children and Ministry
A new opportunity for ministry has opened up for tomorrow. We are working with Out of Darkness to throw a block party. Out of Darkness is an anti-human tracking organization. The goal for this block party is to give young, at-risk people self confidence and awareness . Our hope is that it would keep them from turning to other things that pimps use to pull them in, like drugs.
This opportunity has paired well with our session’s main focus this week: Children’s ministry. When the topic was announced I was less than thrilled to say the least, but our speaker was great and I learned a ton about connecting and sharing Jesus with kids. I’m so excited that we get to put what we learned to use so quickly.
Culture week
This week was culture week. That means each day, we ate food from a different region. We had food from India, East Europe, Asia, and Africa. One day at lunch I got to try grasshoppers and a century egg, an egg buried for a year and then dug up and eaten. The kitchen here did an amazing job preparing great food for everyone here.
