Hey friends! In this week’s blog, I wanted to give you a glimpse of my life since the break in at debrief, and I figured that through my eyes was the best lens I had to offer. In order to get to keep some memories of this trip, my friends and I without phones have started “taking pictures” with our memories and drawing them in our journal when we have the chance. It’s been one of the most beautiful blessings from this new adjustment to a life disconnected, and brought me so much joy! Bear with my lack of Picasso skills, but enjoy!
The night after the robbery, Becca, Julia, and I all slept in the bed together, and we each took different angles to watch to make sure we were safe overnight… I was in the middle, so I took watch of the ceiling.
Over debrief, we got to see Gel check off a BIG bucket list item – seeing the Blue-footed Booby in real life! She instantly climbed over everyone to get as close as possible to them and smiled really big while I took a real picture (the day before my phone was stolen).
One of the first jobs when we got back from debrief was cleaning out some poopy water from the house we’re planning on destroying because the toilet exploded while we were gone… yucky.
For Liz’s birthday we got to go to the hostel down the street and eat hamburgers! It was a real treat!
Riding in the car with Fabi home from ministry looks like… big scary! We took a shortcut and he took his eyes off the road for just a second too long! But we were all okay, so don’t worry.
While painting one of the rooms, all of us without real phones found we all had some Christmas music “downloaded” in our Spotify brains, so we sang as loud as we could while Ella jumped on the bed! Mary did you know Pentatonix edition was the favorite.
We’ve spent a few days at some fellow missionaries houses folding and sorting through hundreds of baby clothes, and this is a picture the day we finished and had everything organized! Juniper (on the side) is their daughter, and she was crying because there was no room for her to ride in the van to transport the clothes.
One of our dear teammates, Abigail, unfortunately had to go home yesterday for medical reasons, but before she left, she requested 1-on-1 time with all of us! We spent the morning under the ”palm” tree and got to talk all about what God was doing and the good He was bringing through this really hard thing.
Here’s another one of the rooms at Mabe and Fabi’s that we have finished painting! It’s a really nice light purple and feels like home. It‘s called the Sacred Room, and I moved into it the other day!
For adventure day yesterday, we got to go to some hot springs in THE JUNGLE! It was so relaxing and as you can see, I said that i felt very tranquillo there! It was super beautiful.
Finally, the close of our night last night, as Abigail and Gel headed out to the airport. I opened the window of the laundry room and saw everyone standing on the fence as we waved goodbye. Abigail, if you’re reading this, we love you and miss you so much, and are so blessed to have you as a part of our family.
Thanks for tuning into life in Ecuador through my brain photos, God is good and He is working even in the hardest of situations! Thank you for all the words of encouragement as I continue in this season of life!
