The World Race is. . .

The World Race is homesickness: longing to be home when in reality you are 2,397 miles away from the ones you love.

The World Race is having a parasite in Ecuador: hunching over the toilet at three o’clock at night with half of your squad mates.

The World Race is loneliness: lying to yourself that “whatever I’m feeling, I am alone. It is only me”.

The World Race is a reality check: reminding you of how many things you have once taken for granted. Warm showers, a couch to nap on, and a refrigerator door to open when you are bored.

The World Race is discomfort: stripping you of everything you found comfortable to sleep in a tent for three months straight.

The World Race is a sacrifice: surrendering all to live for Him.

But the World Race is also. . . Home no matter the country you live in.

The World Race is also weeks of good health: crying, laughing because you have never been happier.

The World Race is also being part of a Kingdom community: lasting forever, even after the Race.

The World Race is also a gift: blessings filling your thoughts during ministry as you sweep a floor, replace a roof, or mow a lawn.

The World Race is also a gentle giant: pushing you outside of your comfort zone. Forcing you to do things you once feared, but now love.

But most of all, the World Race is always worth it: every ounce of it. The good. The bad. The hard. The World Race is worth it.

There are many things in our lives when the good outweigh the bad or the feeling of success is more important to you than the amount of times you have failed.

I encourage you to take a minute. Thank God for the little things.

What do you have in your life that you need to sit back and remind yourself to be thankful for?
