hi everyone! hope all is going well 🙂
I’ve been so busy while being on the race and have really been trying to focus on what I’ve been working through these past 2 months. so here’s a little bit about what I’ve been doing and a little description following each one 🙂
I JUST STARTED MY 3RD MONTH!!! – woah. how insane is that. I have officially been with my squad and team for 2 months, and let me be the first to tell you that time isn’t slowing down. this has been the best experience of my life. it is so hard, but so rewarding as well.
I’m currently writing this blog in Foley, Alabama, in a sunday school classroom, at 6:58 pm lol. I have been in Foley, Alabama now for 3 1/2 days, and it has been a wild experience. I’ve been serving with samaritans purse to help with disaster relief from all of the hurricanes that have passed through here; especially hurricane Sally. even though it’s been a month 1/2 since Sally has hit, these people are still suffering and still need so much help. my team works from 8am-4:30pm everyday besides Sundays, and let me tell you, it’s hard work. physical labor everyday is exhausting. I get up at 5:30 everyday, and have been having late nights. I’ll write a separate blog post about my time here in Alabama 🙂
fun days!! – this last weekend we had the incredible opportunity to go thrift shopping in ACTUAL stores, and we went to an ACTUAL coffee shop!!!! it was so much fun, wow. I needed that day 🙂 then after that, we went to the gulf shore beach. a few of us spent a few hours playing in the ocean and hanging out on the beach. I forgot what it was like to look out into the ocean and see nothing except endless possibility out there. I forgot what it was like to see people and feel the wind in your face. If you know anything about me, you know that I absolutely love water and being outside in the sun. this day was absolutely incredible. after I got back from the ocean, I played some ultimate frisbee with some friends. what a FUN time!!! I’m still sore though, don’t be fooled haha.
what I’ve been going through and learning. – I’m going to be real with all of you; I’ve been going through a lot recently while being here, and it’s been extremely draining. the Lord has put certain people in my life during this season, and it’s been bringing lots of memories and things that I’ve been having to go through. it hasn’t been easy, but it’s been fruitful. healing has been taking place here, and I’m so grateful to be doing it here with my team and an incredible community. this season here definitely isn’t easy, but it’s worth it.
I hope all of you are doing well!! all I know is that it’s November 3rd and it’s almost 80 degrees, while most of you are suffering in 30 degree weather :/. y’all I am so sorry and I hope all of you know that I’m not taking it for granted 🙂
