I’ve been discouraged a lot lately with fundraising. People are struggling with money and losing their jobs. I don’t blame people for not donating right now. So a lot of people aren’t donating and fundraisers aren’t going well either. Where in the world am I supposed to get thousands of dollars?
In the past 2 weeks or so, God has been showing me that He’s got this! My faith is so small. I pray that God increases my faith. Several things have happened recently. My work is closed until at least the end of April, but we are getting full pay during that time. My coworkers and I were shocked at this news. That takes care of all of my normal expenses and more (especially since I’m spending less money being at home).
I’m babysitting too, so I’m able to put that money toward the trip. A family asked me to babysit 3 days last week, but it was cancelled the day before. The family insisted on paying me anyway. They donated the money that they would have paid me. How many families would do that, especially right now?
This is not how I expected God to provide money for my trip. When I was accepted to The World Race, I didn’t expect COVID-19 to be a big problem. I didn’t expect to be out of work for over a month. I didn’t expect to be at home waiting to be able to do fundraisers that are in person. I still have a long way to go too, but God is showing me His faithfulness even when I doubt or don’t trust Him enough.
God has me in His hands. I don’t know how God is going to provide, but I know He will if He wants me to go. He’s reminding me to trust Him. I’ll still get discouraged. I already have been getting discouraged again. But I need to remember that God will take care of this.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 (HCSB)
I’m not going to understand all of this, but that’s okay. God understands it and knows what He is doing.
