Treating a sweet boy’s burn w Mrs Denise in Haiti

Welcome to Blog 3 !!!!! People always ask me how I got started with missions, so here it is. A catastrophic 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit the West Indies in 2010 causing a string of tsunamis affecting 3 million people, displacing one third of the Haiti’s population & killing over 100,000 people . This disaster caused severe infrastructure damage and ongoing aftershocks continued months after the earthquake. Roads, hospitals and government agency were destroyed making relief efforts very difficult.

Acts 29 Missions and Living Word Church put together a medical missions team and I signed up.  I personally had never left the country, had a passport or participated in missions/disaster relief efforts. I was a newer nurse and just wanted to help. I had know idea what I was getting myself into.

We teamed up w Acts 29 Missions that was an established organization in Haiti and their focus was caring for remote villages that received little to no relief effort. We assisted them with medical clinics, distributed food and window kits, built relationships, held kid clubs & so much more. We saw over 2,000 people in the first 3 days!!!

It was such a powerful time and truly a life changing experience.  The resiliency of Haitian people was overwhelming. The stories of how they survived the earthquake, tsunamis and flooding stills brings tears to my eyes. I’m still so amazed. I learned the power of loving , sharing hope & serving others. I have never been the same since going to Haiti and have dedicated my life to missions.

The WR is a year long mission where  I can continue doing what I love and was created for but I need your support. I am looking for 60 ppl to donate $25 monthly for 1 year. If that’s not possible any donation is welcomed and gratefully appreciated. All prayer, support & generosity is truly a blessing and makes it possible for me to participate in AIM Unscripted WR.  AIM is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and your donations are tax deductible. Please stay connected through blogging , Facebook and Instagram @msholmes937 .

Sincerely,

Whitney
