I left for Costa Rica three days ago not knowing what to expect. After a four-hour plane flight and another five hours on a bus, I arrived at the YWAM Puerto Viejo base. I woke up the next day to the sound of tropical birds and monkeys in the trees, walking down the paths you see free-roaming wild chickens and brightly-colored poisonous frogs. This little town is a bustling tourist hotspot and YWAM has been doing some good work in nearly every single ministry from Sports and Children’s Ministry to street evangelism to even beach clean-ups. This area’s lush, green landscape combined with black-sand beaches with clear water really takes your breath away. Go into town, you can rent bikes and buy Costa Rican snacks. It even has a Italian-style Ice Cream shop. At base there are of course chores to do, but there’s a group of foreign students (primarily from Germany but some from Canada and one from South Korea) here for about two weeks to help us get started. I can’t wait to get in the groove of things and start making a difference here. I’m expected to be here in Puerto Viejo for about three months and hope to help out in any way I can.
Thank you all for your support so far! Now that I’m here in Costa Rica, I have to raise the full amount of money to fully engage in ministry. Your support would be very much appreciated in this time!
