“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.”
-Proverbs 16:9
I had it all figured out. I had a plan. I knew how my High School career was going to wrap up, and how I would spend a year on the mission field. But there was something I didn’t plan for. I was not expecting a pandemic, a huge pandemic, to occur right before my mission trip. Like all of the Class of 2020, this has greatly impacted the latter half of my Senior year. This pandemic meant online classes and a “social distancing” graduation. The spread of COVID-19 has impacted not only international travel, but our everyday lives. Suddenly, my plans all changed. Plans for today, and plans for tomorrow.
Today, it is more difficult to do our jobs or go out with friends or family because of the quarantine and social distancing. Before, we took a lot of things for granted, like not having to worry about a dangerous virus that you or somebody you know may catch if you’re not careful. Now, this has added a new dimension to an already complicated life.
However, we have certain duties that we need to continue living out despite the present crisis. During this time, I have only deepened my commitment to the World Race. I feel as though this is something that I need to do in order to strengthen my faith and give me some life lessons before the next stage of my life. No matter what obstacles or hard times happen in life, it is not an excuse to stop. This is such an important time for people to see the Light of the Lord in accordance with the Great Commission. People need hope right now. There are a lot of people who can’t go, but I can. I will GO for everyone who can’t.
While my plans have changed, God knew what would happen with not only Covid, but also with this trip. Yes, plans have changed. I will now have a few months of home mission work and training in Georgia, and the countries I will minister in may change, but the call from God has not changed. God knows my steps in the future. And I will listen and GO.
Thank you for all those who have financially supported my trip. It’s still on, it will still happen. And God is still directing my steps.
