Welcome to my blog 🙂

Hello friends! I am so excited to share my experiences with the World Race here!

What is the World Race?

The first time I heard about the World Race was through a podcast! I didn’t really know what it was, so I decided to check it out, and I am so glad I did. The World Race is a program that sends people out on mission trips around the world! These trips can go anywhere from a month to nearly a year. I read about some of the different ways they do ministry in countries all over the globe, and I was hooked. I felt the Lord calling me to go!

Where am I going?

I am going with a team to serve and love people in the city of Jaco, Costa Rica, for the month of July 2020! We will be doing service projects and outreach work in the surf-community on the beach.

Why am I going?

The call I had from the Lord to “go” wasn’t necessarily to a particular place or a specific ministry. It was to “go” and be a doer of the Word. (James 1:22) And the Word says that we are to become more like Jesus and to be His witnesses throughout the world! (Acts 1:8, Ephesians 5:1-2)

It is also a call to step out of my comfort zone and to trust God with every part of my life. All too often I give fear more power than it should have. Instead of trusting that the Lord will take care of me, I try to rely on my own strength and I avoid the Lord’s call by staying within my comfort zone. In this season of my life, the Lord is teaching me to give up my plans and trust in Him.

Going to do ministry work out of the country with a bunch of people who I have never met before? That’s way out of my comfort zone. Despite the fear I felt towards the possibility of rejection, and the fact that acceptance into this program would lead to stepping out of my comfort zone and into a vulnerable state that I haven’t walked in before, after reading about the World Race and feeling that stir in my heart, I knew I had to at least apply. Proverbs 3:5 says to “trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.”

I’m trying to do just that, by leaning out of my comfort zone and into trusting the Lord. I still mess up sometimes though. For example, I’ve put off writing this first blog post for way longer than I should have! Part of the reason was due to a big essay that I had also procrastinated. Most of the reason was because I was afraid of being vulnerable on the Internet. But thank goodness for the overflowing grace and freedom that comes from Jesus! (2: Corinthians 12:9, Galatians 5:1)

Here’s how you can join me!

Pray for my team and I! You can also give financially if you feel led to do so by clicking the link at the top of this page. Anything is much appreciated!

July 2020 sounds far away now, but it will be here before I know it. I will continue to post updates on what the Lord is doing in my life until that time with updates on prayer requests and financial goals! Thanks for reading!
