Welcome to my official World Race blog!

I appreciate you stopping by! No, seriously, I know there’s a world of distractions out there and a plethora of other things vying for your attention, so it really does mean a lot for you to choose to invest your time into hearing a bit of my story and getting to know me a little better.

I have big plans for future blog posts that dive a little deeper into the different chapters and phases of my life, but for now, here’s a brief overview:

  • 1990: Born and raised in the Shoals Area of Northwest Alabama
  • Lived in Tuscumbia and attended Tuscumbia Church of Christ through middle school before switching to Cross Point Church of Christ when my family moved across the river to Florence once I started driving
  • Went to school at Mars Hill Bible School, a private Christian school in Florence and the reason why we moved, from kindergarten all the way through 12th grade
  • Grew up playing little league baseball, jr. pro basketball, golf with my dad, and spending time behind a boat on the Tennessee River with my best friend
  • Played JV basketball, JV baseball, was on the golf team for a year, varsity tennis, and was involved with chorus and show choir at school
  • 2009: Graduated high school and followed a girl down to The University of Alabama for college (See “God’s Plan, not mine”)
  • Started in the Business College, switched to studying music as part of an interdisciplinary studies degree in the New College program, changed it to Education, and finished out senior year with several Criminal Justice class credit hours
  • 2013: Walked into a recruiter’s office with my best friend (See “God’s Plan, not mine”)
  • 2014: Spent the next four and a half years in the army: Basic Training -> Airborne School -> Special Operations Preparation Course -> Special Forces Assessment and Selection -> 173rd in Vicenza, Italy -> 101st in Fort Campbell, KY -> Air Assault School (Waaayyyy more in-depth blog about this crazy journey coming in the future, so be sure to subscribe so you won’t miss it!)
  • 2018: Separated from the military and immediately started grad school at Lipscomb University for a masters in Marriage and Family Therapy (See “God’s Plan, not mine”)
  • 2019: 40 days of prayer leading up to my 29th birthday in order to discern whether or not to apply to go on the World Race
  • Applied to the World Race, was accepted, and now posting my “About Me” blog (See “God’s Plan, not mine”)

About Me sections are SO HARD! How in the world do I include everything that has added together to make up who I am in a concise enough way to convey it to people in a brief enough post that doesn’t abuse their attention span?? The answer is, I don’t. There is so much I have left unsaid for brevity’s sake, and this is such a glancing overview of who I am (really, it turned out more like a “what I’ve done” section than a “who I am” section), but like I mentioned before, I plan to add more posts in the future that hopefully will serve to fill in many of the gaps.

Thanks again so much for stopping by, and if you’re reading this, for making it this far. It really does mean a lot to have people invested in me and God’s Story through me, and I love having an outlet to share my testimony and what all He has done and continues to do in and with my life! If you haven’t already, please consider subscribing to my blog by clicking here, or clicking the Follow Me link in the top left corner under my profile picture. That way, you won’t miss out on any future posts or updates, as this will be my main way to keep my supporters informed leading up to and after launching on the Race!

And if you’re STILL reading, I assume you are interested or invested in me or my journey, so I would LOVE to invite you to be a part of it with me! In addition to subscribing to this blog, please consider adding me and my fellow teammates to your prayer list, along with our preparations leading up to launching as well as all we set out to do while on the Race! If you are able to give financially, I of course would love for you to have the opportunity to do that as well, I need all the help I can get! Just click the link here and give as much or as little as you feel called to – every penny helps!!

Again, thank you so much for your time and anything else you contribute to this journey and God’s story He’s telling. I’m humbled to play a role, and look forward to running this Race with you!

Please feel free to share this post and any future post across social media, and comment below to let me know your thoughts!

Until the next one,
