I’m in Costa Rica!!!!
It’s officially been almost 2 weeks since getting here and wow have we been busy. Most days have looked like devos in the morning following breakfast, manual labor before lunch, then sometimes continued after lunch or evangelism, or leading church services/youth groups in the afternoon and early evening. Manual labor ministry has looked like a lot of different things: raking/chopping down a path in the jungle surrounding our base, mixing and putting in concrete, hanging and painting drywall, digging a trench for water, or even shoveling and moving dirt to create paths around the base. It’s safe to say, Costa Rica has looked a lot different than Guatemala. However, with many, many visits to the beach, wifi on sometimes Mondays and most Tuesdays, and adventure days that have included visiting jungles, and climbing, swimming and jumping in waterfalls, we’ve had times to relax and just have fun with each other and God.
Speaking of having fun with God, thats really what i wanted to share with you guys today. First off, ask yourselves this: what’s a fun memory you have with God?
Something that has been on my heart a lot recently is the idea of falling completely and totally in love with the Father. Not just loving Him because of what He could do for you, but being in love with Him for who He is, His character, being able to simply sit and enjoy being in His presence and finding full satisfaction and delight in who He is. Living every moment of everyday simply enjoying the Lord is something I desire to do but am still working on each and everyday.
A vision the Lord gave me within the past couple months was of me and Jesus going on a rollercoaster together. Yeah, weird, right? But what makes it an even funnier image is it’s not like modern day Jesus, it’s Jesus from thousands of years ago, white robe, sandals, and everything. We’re sitting side my side on the roller coaster going up up up until we reach the curve thats gonna hurdle us towards the ground faster than we could ever imagine. As we feel the seats start to curve towards the ground, I’m holding the seat handles with a death grip and Jesus turns to me, “you ready?” he says, with a playful smile and wide eyes. No sooner do I nod then we’re suddenly flying down at a 180 degree angle towards the ground. I look over to Jesus and this dude has got both hands up in the air and He’s yelling out of pure joy at the top of His lungs. I can’t help but laugh and join Him.
Though i’ve yet to actually go down a rollercoaster with Jesus, that vision is definitely at the top of my favorite fun memories with Jesus. He constantly reminds me to go throughout each day inviting Him into my “rollercoaster moments.”
So, i challenge you, each and everyday, invite God into whatever you’re doing. Cleaning? Invite God into sweeping. Running to the store quick? Invite God to sit in the car with you then grocery shop with you. Watching a funny movie? Ask Him to sit and laugh with you! He wants to spend everyday with you just delighting in you and enjoying your presence. He loves you that much.
Yeah…I’d say He’s a pretty cool guy.
Love you all soooo much!
Quincy
