HEYYYYYYYY!!!!
Base ministry/ life is ministry and ministry is life

There are 5 main base ministries: Jungle chopping, deep cleaning the building, Cocina (kitchen), mix concrete and loving the base staff:)

Waking up to howling monkeys, rain or the tweeting of birds is the coolest thing ever. Vivo en la jungla de Costa Rica (I live in the jungle of CR)! WHAT?!! The staff here at YWAM Puerto Viejo, are incredible servants of the Lord. They serve us so well and the communities around them. Everyday. We get the privilege to help serve the Lord by their side and learn about what “life is ministry and ministry is life” really means.
At first, base ministry was so exciting! Wake up, chill, eat some delicious breakfast, have a devotional and then start the day. Whip up concrete, use huge machetes and go wild chopping down la jungla! Or make authentic Costa Rican meals for everyone and have long, fun conversations with the staff! After a few weeks things slowly started to loose its hype. Days are long, mixing concrete gets tiring, cooking and cleaning everyday after a long work day is hard. Its hard to have a lot of motivation when you can’t see the fruits of your labor.
But we recently had a teaching on why each of these ministries are important.
I have been called to the race. Therefore I have been called to Costa Rica, because the Lord knew I would be here when I signed up for the race. God also called our host Rasta here to live and serve in Costa Rica. Rasta doesn’t get paid to be here. He doesn’t sit around all day and pay others to clean out la jungla. We get to be here to serve Rasta in Jesus’ name. We demolish the jungle twice a week so that Rasta can build more rooms for other missionaries to stay and live and be discipled; So they can serve Costa Rica and Rasta in Jesus’ name and raise up the next generation. We make wheel barrel after wheel barrel full of concrete to fix Rastas driveway and floor in his home so he can keep his car safe from the untamed winds and rain. So Rasta can rest well at night with a concrete floor instead of a dirt floor. So he can be ready for the next phone call he will get of a family needing help.
We deep clean the building on base, so we can live in a clean environment and to keep our rooms neat for the next group of missionaries coming to serve alongside Rasta in Jesus’ name. We cook and clean in la cocina to give the staff a break. Then they can rest and spend time being filled up with the Lord, so they can be ready to serve alongside Rasta in Jesus’ name. We get to do the little things, that don’t seem like ministry at all, but are actually the next big thing. We are helping prepare this base for the next generation of missionaries.
Every LITTLE thing matters.
Every swing from my machete. Every dish I wipe. Every scoop of concrete. Every smile after a Buenas Dias to the staff in the morning. Every LITTLE thing matters.

“And the Jesus answered, “Today, you do not understand what I am doing, but one day you will.”” John 13:7
Right now I may not see the fruits of my labor, but I was called to Costa Rica to serve the Lord. In every LITTLE or BIG way.

We are living only a few more days here in Costa Rica and then we are headed to the Dominican republic!!!!
We are headed to San José, Costa Rica for a squad debrief. A time for our leaders and us to rest and reflect on these past months in Costa;)
Thank you so much for your prayers and encouragement!
Please continue to pray!!!!!
