Some lyrics from the song “We Believe” By New Song, has been on my mind a lot recently. The words We Believe is a constant phrase in my head whenever I start to feel overwhelmed or anxious. The song goes like this:
“In this time of desperation, When all we know is doubt and fear, There is only one foundation We believe, we believe. We believe in God the Father We believe in Jesus Christ We believe in the Holy Spirit And He’s given us new life!” I haven’t listened to this song in years, but God knew what I needed to hear and put those words in my head:) Our God is so amazing and so powerful! Through all of our doubt, fear and uncertainty during this time, there is only one foundation we can lean on and know we are not going to fall; when we have faith over fear and believe in our Savior, Jesus Christ.
This week has not been easy, I have been trying to rely on myself and that has not worked out..but every morning before work I wake up and pray. I pray for my attitude during the day, for my family and their jobs and this country we live in and for all the countries in the world that are struggling even more right now. When I start with prayer, I begin my day with more Faith than fear of what I can’t control.
I work at a hospital, and every shift is 12 and 1/2 hours. During this time, I think about things I could be doing or overthinking a conversation I had a few days ago. I start to feel afraid and worry about things that I have no control over. Working at a hospital during all this craziness is difficult because I still live at home, and I don’t want to take home any hospital germs. Whenever I start to worry, I stop and think everything is going to be alright, because God only knows what’s going to happen and is the only one in control. I can’t, but He can!
