Why The World Race?
You see, for the last, well..many years of my life I’ve been living my life how I wanted. I had an idea in my head of what I felt like I needed in my life, but recently God has shown me that I will be the most happy and fulfilled doing what He has called me to do. He has also shown me how much I need to depend on Him.
When my dad passed away in December (well really when we found out he had cancer), my entire perspective of life changed. I have always admired my dad so much. My entire life I saw how much he really cared and served other people, but I never realized the deep compassion he had for others until he got sick two years ago. When I saw how much my dad impacted others, I realized how much I wanted to do the same.
I had never heard of the World Race until this year. One of my Facebook friends had been posting about it and when I first saw she was going I thought, “wow what a great opportunity; good for her!” But I never even thought it was something that I would consider doing months down the road.
A couple of months ago, God started putting the idea of missions on my mind and heart. That same Sunday, the entire message was about how, as Christians, the greatest impact we could make is telling others about Jesus. God revealed so much to me during that service and I couldn’t stop thinking about the World Race.
Soo, for those who don’t know: The World Race is an 11 month mission trip around the world in which followers of Jesus share the Gospel and serve others in many different ways. When I first read about this opportunity it seemed impossible for me to do. It wouldn’t be cheap and I would have to give up my comfortable life for a whole year while leaving everything behind. However, the more I prayed, researched, and talked to people, the more peace and clarity God gave me about doing the World Race.
If you’re still reading after all of that, thank you! A couple of weeks ago, I secured my spot for the World Race and I am officially going next October. EXACTLY ONE YEAR FROM NOW. My routes include: Costa Rica, Panama, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, China, Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Malaysia. I’m super excited about this opportunity that God has given me! I would ask for y’all to pray for me during this year as God prepares my heart and also, pray that I am able to fundraise the money needed for this trip. If God lays it on your heart to support me with this trip there several ways you can help! From now until next October I’ll be doing some fundraising, or you can support me directly through this blog. If there is another way you would like to help out or support me please reach out! Also, please subscribe to my blog down below for updates throughout this year and during the world race!
