Good evening Everyone,

It has been about two months since I have posted a blog. There are some new things that are going on here in North Carolina that I would like to share with you all. Every Monday and Wednesday all the women on campus gather at the White House and have dinner and we talk about anything like our relationship with God or something that the Heavenly Father has showed us this past week maybe a testimony or a word that God has shared with them to share with the group. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we have all team which is where between fifty to sixty people come and gather to have dinner prepared by our cook team which is a group of five or six people who cook for the entire campus. So once dinner is finished on Tuesdays Nick (who is our announcer during all team) we talk about anything that is special or if we have a special guest coming up during the week also, we give high fives (this is where anybody can point out anything that they see during the week or if anyone went out of their way to do anything without being asked to).

After Announcements we have all team which is where a guest speaker or one of the leaders from a program called Created share a lesson about God’s word once all team is over, we can ask questions. On Thursday it is the second all team night but on this night is based on practical meaning learning for example how to budget or how to manage your taxes or we may even have lessons like how we have on Tuesday nights. Lastly, on Fridays I am on cook team with three other people on campus and we prepare a meal this day is a little bit different everyone on campus comes and eats, and we have the pleasure to fellowship with one another in the dining room or in the living room.

On Thursday mornings before All team, I absolutely love days like this. I walk over to the Dixon which is another house on campus. I am a teacher in the nursey and the kids that I watch are between the ages of one and three. Between the hours of the morning there are three different teachers that come in and teach art which is awesome because I can tell this is the kids favorite time of the day because they get to paint or color what they learned about from story time.  We also have story time where the kids can go grab books that they want to be read by the teacher sometimes at least two out of the seven kids grab ten books at once. The last subject of the day we learn is music depending on what the teacher has planned we can have music playing in the background, so the music teacher brings a book called “The Wheels on The Bus” and she also brings her egg shakers so while reading the book or listening to a song we are able to do movements with the kids.

Every week that I have the pleasure to watch the kids I learn something new that I could reflect on my past. That not everyone was taught to share, or they do not have siblings so it takes more patience to help them understand/ help them walk through how to effectively use their words if they want a toy that someone else in the class might have without getting upset because they can not have the toy. I do have another child she is three years old, and she has down syndrome and she is the sweetest person ever but there would be moments were she would pull hair, but she would not understand that she is hurting one of her friends in class. This has taught me yes everyone is different but when talking to her I let her know that its okay and we do not want to hurt our friends and we have to be gentle when we play with our friends. Usually when I am finished talking to my student, I will talk to one of the children who is crying because they will think that she was being mean or she did it on purpose but, I will make sure they are okay and then I explain that she did not mean to pull your hair or to hurt you. By this time, the student with down syndrome will walk over to the kid that is crying or upset and give them a hug to say sorry.

During my time here I have let God work through my life. Yes, there are certain things that I am still learning about myself. About a month ago allowing God to work through my heart he has shown me the power of prayer and what it means to let the Spirit speak through you. What I mean by this is that at first, I was holding back prayers that God placed on my heart to speak or words he would give me for others due to how nervous I was about speaking. When the next opportunity came the Holy Spirit said speak now and I felt a heavy weight on my chest at that moment I stepped out of my comfort zone and said, “Yes Lord”. Ever since then I speak without hesitation but knowing that my Heavenly Father would guide me no matter if I knew what to say or not. What I mean by letting the spirit speak through me there is times where I am in conversations and I have learned that it is not about me and I need to lean in and listen to what someone else is saying. There would be times where I may not have a word for them and there are times where I am not my own and God tells me what to say. There would be times where I cry because I know God is using me as a vessel to touch his son or his daughter through the power of his words. Our God is Good All the Time Amen.

Thank you all for tuning in there are moments that I would love to share with you all even if it is through a picture.

Love, Kira
