Hey everybody it’s me Kira!!
Welcome to my first blog post 🙂
I am so glad you are able to join me today in this first blog I will be giving you guys an update about what all is going on so……. before I get started Go ahead and grab a hot cup of coffee or tea which ever one you prefer and grab your favorite snack and sit back and enjoy the story.
Just in case you have not read my about me page here is a brief background about me…. Hello my name is Kira Kirkland I am 17 years old and my birthday is May 19th. A couple things I like to do on my free time is to sing, read, write or sit out side and write in my journal to God. I am currently a SENIOR in high school and my last day of school is May 8th. My favorite color is royal blue and I love GOD!!!!
So, you all may have seen a video that was posted late last year on Facebook and Instagram of me announcing that I am going on the World Race in September of 2020!!!!!!! Then in the same video I spoke about the Route that I chose which was South Africa, Nicaragua, Ecuador and a fourth country that was added was PERU!!!!
But, a couple of weeks ago my route was changed because there was not enough people going on Route 2…. But hey don’t get sad my team and I are blessed to choose a new route at first yes I was sad because I am going to miss my team and my advisor Drew but I am beyond blessed with the option to choose another route and announce to you all that I chose ROUTE 1: COSTA RICA, ECUADOR AND NEPAL.
Can you believe it because I can’t !!!! I am super excited to meet my new advisor and my new team. Now that you all know I know that I have chosen a new route in the same video I also explained that I will be leaving the country for 9 months in September. Instead of leaving the country immediately following training camp in September due to Covid- 19 we will be taking time to let the world re-open and become stabilize. I will be staying with my team for the next three months and in January we plan to be departing for the field so instead of me leaving for 9 months I will be leaving for only for 6 months but I am still beyond grateful that I still have the opportunity to go even with everything that is going on in the world today.
At first when I saw this announcement immediately I became very sad but then finding the positive in this which is that I have more time to get to know my team and build awesome new friendships also I get to surround my self with people who are all there for a purpose and I am able to build a closer connection with God before the final date of my departure.
I truly want to say thank you to the people whom have donated to me so far and I am truly blessed now that you all have had the opportunity to read my 1st blog post about this update I will be blogging at least once every week or every other week.
