My journey to the World Race has definitely been a rollercoaster. I graduated high school in the spring of 2019, and my entire senior year was been spent preparing to attend my dream school, Colorado Christian University. But little did I know God had other plans…
The decision to go on the World Race, Semesters, was definitely not an easy one. It required lots of prayer and LOTS of tears. Looking back on this past summer, it is evident to me all the ways God showed me this is where He wants me. As some of you know, throughout the summer, I was memorizing the book of Matthew for a scholarship through my school. As I dug into this book of the Bible, I was amazed at how Jesus and the disciples devoted their lives to spreading the gospel. I began to feel a deep urge inside of me to go and make the gospel known. I believe that God calls some people to go out and do the missions work, while others are called to send these people out. As the summer went on, I truly began to feel that God was calling me to “go” and spread the gospel, at least at this stage of life. I tried to ignore these feelings for a while, thinking it was just nerves about going to college. That’s when I stumbled upon the World Race… three weeks before college. After lots of prayer, I knew in my heart God was calling me to the World Race. Taking this leap of faith was absolutely terrifying. All I could think about was, “what if this is a mistake, what if I am making the wrong decision.” But I was comforted by Matthew 8, where Jesus tells his disciples during the storm, “why are you afraid, you of little faith, don’t you trust Me?” I have felt so convicted by this verse these past few weeks. If I am truly trusting God with this journey, then I have absolutely no reason to be afraid, because there is no safer place you can be than following the will of God.
My team and I will be traveling to three different countries in South America to spread the love of Jesus: Columbia, Ecuador, and Peru. We will spend about two months in each country, partnering with local missions and most of all making the gospel known. Your prayers along this journey would be more than appreciated. Spreading the gospel does not just take one person, it takes the whole church. My team and I will need each and every one of your prayers to fulfill our mission. Please pray that God would open the hearts of the people in South America, that they would be open to hear the gospel, so they can be renewed and restored. Pray for my team and I as well. This journey is bound to have many difficulties, so prayers for physical, emotional, and spiritual health would be greatly appreciated.
Many days I wonder if I should have just gone to college. That was my “safe” option. But God doesn’t call us to live a “safe” life. If we do, we will never grow with Him, and His word will never be made known. Thats why I am excited to invite you along with me on this journey of the World Race! I can’t wait to share with you all God does in South America 🙂
