Hey Guys! I hope you are all doing well! I wanted to tell y’all a little more about what I will be doing this summer and how I found out about it.
What Is The World Race? How Did You Hear About It?
The World Race “Semesters” is a 1-6 month mission trip to share the love of Jesus with others around the world. I first heard of The World Race from my friend Matthew, who will also be serving this summer in the Philippines. When I heard Matthew talk about what he would be doing, my interest was immediately sparked. I began to do research and realized that I felt called to apply.
What will you be doing in Swaziland and South Africa?
I will be in Swaziland for the first month working with the Adventures in Missions Base in rural Nsoko. The second month I will be in South Africa serving with the Global Leadership Academy in Jeffreys Bay. Through these programs, I will be serving in children’s ministry care points throughout the area, leading VBS-style programs, working in orphanages, teaching classes, working on improvement projects around the schools, building relationships with students and walking with them as they seek to know Jesus more, and ultimately sharing the love and word of God.
Why specifically Swaziland and South Africa?
As long as I can remember I have been passionate about helping others and specifically working with and loving on children. I have worked at a summer camp for the last two summers and that fostered my love for God and working with children. When I heard about The World Race I was immediately drawn towards it and began to pray to see if this was a door that the Lord was opening for me. As a part of missions work, we will be mostly focused on orphan care, youth ministry, and teaching, all of which are things I am passionate about.
How can I help?
The most important thing you can do is pray for me, the people going with me, and the people that we will meet in Southern Africa. I am nervous for this new journey but I am beyond excited and know that this is where God wants me to be this summer. If you feel led, please be in prayer for guidance as we get ready for this summer, and strength once we are there.
