These past few months, I have spent a lot of time talking to and growing closer with my squad, and I see clearly that we all have one common fear: fundraising. And for good reason, too. We all have to raise a lot of money, and to put it simply, it’s not easy. We’ve experienced people who have questioned why we would want to do this, and people who have ignored us when we reach out. It’s scary as each day passes by and there hasn’t been significant change. Admittedly, this has been a big fear of mine, however each time I talk about these fears to friends or family, they meet me with surprise. “What?” “Why would you think that?”
Fortunately, I have been blessed with people in my life that always know what to say in times that I’m feeling discouraged, and their words of wisdom get me through my doubt. I love sharing these, because they have made all the difference. I’ve heard things like, “God wouldn’t call you to this and then put money in the way of it,” and “God will see the hard work you have put into this and He will reward you and honor you for it.” Then there’s the words I’ve heard from more than one person: “It’s your job to ask; it’s God’s job to provide a response,” and one of my favorites, “GOD’S WILL GOD’S BILL.”
This is only a small fraction of the encouragement I’ve received, and every time I hear these words, I feel silly for ever feeling doubtful in the first place. Did I really think that this entire task was on my shoulders? REALLY? I don’t know who needs to hear this, whether fundraising for the Race or not, but God is WITH us. Not watching us from a distance, hoping we’ll pull through. Has God placed a purpose in someone’s life only to watch it fall apart? No. He has so much love for us which we will never be able to comprehend, that He has chosen us to fulfill this special task to spread this love to the nations.
Whether it takes a couple months or an entire year, God WILL provide for us, and everyone’s journey will be wonderfully unique. So let go of doubts and fears, and let God astonish you with His indescribable love for His people.
