Dear Friends and Family,

Thank you, thank you, and thank you for taking time to read this. I hope that you leave knowing a bit of my heart better and truly seeing my burning desire for Our King and His people. For the past couple years I’ve had the opportunity to do mission work with Baptist Prep High School in Italy. I loved the opportunity to have an impact on the lives of young Italians and build relationships with the students these past two years. Each trip I found God continually showing me how broken the world is and how much people need to experience Him and that is the reason why my heart for missions has grown.

As a senior in high school, I often hear these questions, “Where are you going to college?” and “Have you thought about a major?” For the longest time, the honest answer was “I have no idea”.  However, after my trips to Italy, I sensed the Lord asking me to trust Him for a longer period in ministry, and the thought about taking a gap year popped in my head often. The Holy Spirit began to prompt my heart and I began to look for opportunities to take a Gap year. I discovered Adventures in Missions (AIM) offers a gap year program with the World Race. After reading previous racer’s blogs & stories and learning more about the organization and the mission’s program, I felt God was calling me to serve with AIM. I continued to pray and specifically asked God to bring me comfort and speak to me in this time and without a doubt, I knew this was the next step God had shown me to take.

Starting in September 2020 through May 2021, I will be living in three different countries for nine months, sharing the name of Jesus. How humbling it has been realizing the Lord has chosen me to carry His name out into the nations. I will be doing this through AIM – specifically the World Race Gap year. I am on route 4 which will take me to- Costa Rica (3 months), Guatemala (3 months), and eSwatini (final 3 months). The mission work we will be doing involves serving with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, teach English and the Bible, and bring the restorative hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations. We are simply going to be the hands and feet of Jesus to serve those who Christ puts in front of us. That can look like loving on orphaned children, sharing the gospel through manual labor, teaching language and life skills, and/or just being there to be a beacon of hope and light in this broken world. I have an unshakable desire to share the wild redemptive love of Jesus Christ to the ones who need it the most. My deepest hope is to be a vessel for the Lord, to be the hands and feet that take the good news of the gospel into the nations. My Jesus is worth talking about. He is worth giving the rest of my life, even if just one person comes out of it proclaiming His name.

I will go through many different and life-changing challenges in these 9 months and one of the most challenging things I am going through is raising support. I simply cannot do this without a support system and prayer warriors at home. I cannot do this without YOU. So here I am, asking you to sit down with your family, and with the Lord, and prayerfully consider donating to this next leg of my journey. The total cost of this trip is $15,800.  I need to raise my first $5,000 by May, $10,000 by August, and the remaining by December of next year. People’s generosity continuously blows me away. A simple “thank you” does not even begin to cover my gratitude.

I prayerfully ask you to consider donating to the calling the Lord has very deliberately put on my life. If you would simply like to pray for me and my team throughout the journey that would be greatly appreciated. If you would like to stay up to date on my blog you can subscribe to receive notifications when I post a new blog 🙂 If God leads you to donate toward my trip, you can easily donate online by going to my blog home page (where you are now). When you decide to donate, hit the ‘Donate’ button at the top of the page. There you have the option to donate online or via mail (address is located on the right next to the online donation option). If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. My email is on the bottom of this letter. Thank you in advance for covering me in prayer and for how generously you will give. I cherish each one of you.

All the blessings,

Clara Scott
