Hey everyone, long time no see! I’m so sorry I haven’t been posting regularly for the past few weeks, but I’m so excited to start sharing about our time here in the Dominican Republic.
First up! The Location…
Our base for the last stretch of the race is Hope Mountain in Lajas de Yaroa. It is a small community nestled into the mountains, about half way between two cities.
We are surrounded by beautiful green ridges of mountain range, and are richly blessed with an incredible view. I’m working on ways to share pictures of our base with you, but for now check out @Hope_4_dr ministries on Instagram for some amazing photos of what our squad has been up to!
Next up, our day to day schedule.
7:00am: Wake up! Get ready for the day & spend some quiet time with the Lord.
8:30am: Breakfast on the 3rd floor open deck of our house.
9:00am: Devotionals: each team takes a day to lead the squad in Bible study, worship, deep dive, or prayer.
10:00am: Ministry! Our teams work separately from each other. We rotate between Administrative Work, Creative Projects, Community Outreach, and Manual Labor. So far Team Mesa has worked on Admin, Outreach, and Creativity. All three have been an absolutel blast. Next week will be our first time working in manual labor!
12:00pm: Lunch time back on the deck as a squad
12:30pm: Siesta 🙂
1:00pm: Optional Dance Ministry: One of the staff on base (Jamie) is working on a music video to help raise awareness of sex trafficking in the Dominican Republic. Many of us have volunteered to be actors and dancers in the video.
2:00pm: Back to Ministry!
5:30pm: Free time/Team time before dinner
6:30pm: Dinner time on the deck with the Squad
7:30pm: Free time/ Team time until Bed time
10:30pm: Quiet hours (Bed time!!)
That’s what our days look like on base here. Keep your eyes open for my next post where I talk about my greatest fear: DANCE MINISTRY.
Thank you all so much for your prayers and support, and I’ll talk to you again soon 🙂
