I’ll be honest guys, these photo drops are my favorite kinds of posts to write. I love giving you all a peek into however life looks wherever I am. So without further ado, welcome to Puerto Viejo Costa Rica! Let me show you around…
The Big House

F Squad is currently staying at the YWAM (Youth with a Mission) base in Puerto Viejo. This is the main building on campus. I call it “The Big House”. This is where all the women on our squad live. Team Mesa shares a bunk room with Team Zao (there’s 12 of us in total!), and Team fervent lives in a smaller room next door. Every Saturday, you can find a cluster of Racers sitting on one corner of the deck together. Is it so we can spend time together in fellowship as a community? Well, kinda…but it’s mostly because that’s where the WiFi router is.
The Kitchen

This is our kitchen! It’s one of my favorite places on campus. Shifts in the kitchen are a wonderful opportunity to minister to our base hosts. You can find me here every morning between 5:30am & 7am helping prep breakfast for the base. We all take turns helping out for every meal.
The Dining Hall

Here’s my second favorite building on Campus! I’ve been calling it the dining hall, but really we do everything here. This place has been transformed into space for meals, Spanish lessons, worship, Bible study, card tournaments, and so much more. It’s the space where we all gather to share time as a community.
The Path

The men of F Squad live in the blue house at the end of this path. Oh, and did I mention that we live in THE JUNGLE???
The Jungle
Well I couldn’t get my photo of the jungle to load here, but it’s on my Facebook, so go check that out!!
We’re on 11 acres of jungle. It is beautiful. I’ve seen capybaras, sloths, lizards, poison dart frogs, giant moths, GIANT ants, and I’ve heard every kind of bird call you can imagine. Speaking of hearing, every morning I wake up to the pleasant sound of monkeys screaming in the trees. SCREAMING (Seriously, it kind of sounds like something is getting ripped apart). There are fruit trees, and massive groves of bamboo all over campus. Many of our structures are actually made with the bamboo we cut from the groves!
Speaking of beautiful spaces… we live 3 miles from the ocean.
The Ocean

This is the Black Sand beach. It’s a standing reminder of what a rich blessing it is to be here. It’s my favorite place to process the events of the week, and spend time with my squad. Every time I look over the ocean, I am reminded of God’s great power, and his great love for his children. The Lord makes beautiful things. The ocean, the jungle, the fruit trees, you, me, and even the screaming monkeys. Out of his great love for his people, God created this beautiful earth. What a baffling gift to receive. The love of the Father is more infinite than the grains of sand on the beach, and it is ours to receive with joy.

I’ve gotten some really great questions from y’all so far, and I am SO EXCITED to answer them all in next week’s Q&A post. Keep ‘em coming!
